How many millions will suffer for the rest of their lives? I think people attempting to minimize this virus forget about the survivors.

We've been pumped full of fear for months now. There are many legitimate reason for the backlash. I doubt many people just don't care about the sick and dead - many are exhausted from the fear factory that is now in place. I know people who plan to wear masks in public for the rest of their lives!

People are trying to minimize the situation and NEVER discuss the long term implications of getting ill from this virus. I don't want permanent organ damage and then call myself a success because it didn't kill me.

50% of so called asymptomatics actually have pneumonia and lung inflammation that can cause permanent scarring of tissue.

Isn't is strange how much of the media celebrates death "milestones"? Who decides this crap?

Like setting off fireworks and looting stores, for many there seems to be a party atmosphere now.

I don't think it's strange at all. If this isn't news then what is. I will admit that while MSNBC reported this in very somber tones, I suspect they may have been celebrating inwardly, but they know that public sentiment for blaming Trump (even among Republicans) is increasing every week.

We are 100% polarized and 99% partisan. I think the GOP is more to blame than the Dems. The GOP blocked Obama's constitutional right to have his Supreme Court nominee go up for confirmation. Obama promoted the idea of transsexual bathrooms. I see significant differences there. Other people see it differently. I personally think those other people are cretins. They have a right to an opinion, but I think it's the duty of decent people to oppose them.

Trump sets him self up for the extreme criticism he receives, and in the last seven days he set new records for opening himself up for the strongest opposition and the most biting ridicule.

BTW, you mentioned people looting stores. Are people looting stores because the death toll hit six figures? I only heard of this happening in Minneapolis in response to the police killing an unarmed man again, and again, and again. I guess the people who didn't like this should have sent a letter to their congressman.

We don't know yet, but we all may be wearing masks for the rest of our lives.
In related news a recent poll said that half of all Americans wont take a vaccine it becomes available. I hope employers make it mandatory. I'm assuming public schools will, because there's a lot of precedent there.

Amazon just announced we will be wearing masks and keeping the partitions between work stations for at least the next year.

The Supreme Court just ruled 5-4 that california’s restrictions on church gatherings are constitutional, and the state can continue to not allow churches to open. Roberts joined the liberal justices in the majority decision.

Roberts has been an unexpected wildcard on some issues.

People are flocking to Target and Costco by the hundreds in central Cali. I drove through the parking lot and turned the fuck around and went home. I sincerely doubt churches would make a difference.

That used to be great fun. In recent years I head for the balcony.

I did get to see Flogging Molly right next to the mosh pit at a theatre show in Chicago. It wasn't very crowded because they were playing Lolapalooza the next day. I remember two poor girls with tickets who got turned away at the door because they weren't 21.

I tried the balconey once, for Disturbed
cannot remember off hand who opened
but by a couple songs in Disturbed's set, headed straight for the floor

that said, have not been to a good concert for almost a decade now
maybe my 30+ bones and joints would tolerate it less well than in my teens and 20s

I took along hiatus from concerts but about two years ago I went and saw Primus with Mastodon.....was stone cold sober- hopping and skipping where I used to drive in and push. I made it pretty close to the center of the pit.

Keep in mind I have a gimpy hand so those on the periphery, that happened to glance my way, probably were laughing thier asses off yelling,"Look at the retard!" Mid 40 year old bones ta boot.

The singer from Disturbed landed on my friends when he jumped out of some box or little balcony.

 that's awesome

have touched a few singer's butts that were not on my list of desired butts to touch
but, to be fair, many of the crowds at those same concerts touched my butt numerous times passing me up on to the stage

the advantages of being barely over five and half feet and around 150 pounds in high school
always felt kind of bad for the big 6 foot+ muscle-bound guys who couldn't crowd surf
but they were always up for scooping me up and tossing me on top of the crowd

Flogging molly is one of the few bands I’ll still get in the pit for. Otherwise I’m too old for that shit now.
Still bummed they cancelled the st Patrick’s day show I had tickets for this year.

I’m a bigger guy and tried crowd surfing once. Got thrown over the fence in front of the stage and landed on my head. There was blood everywhere but it was still worth it.

Oof, heck of an outcome

grew up in a fairly rural area where the capital city was not large
so often when bands came through they played smaller size venues than typical
so the majority of my shows were ones without a fence, just pressed right against the stage
then it was a matter of stage diving back into the crowd, getting passed up, doing it again a few times before heading off the back of the stage to get back to the crowd

spent so much time crowd surfing and stage diving at Death By Stereo
that after the show, my friends and I saw Efrem and went to ask if we could get a picture with him
but before being able to open my mouth he was reaching for my hand saying "holy shit, you were awesome"
roll reversal like crazy

actually tended to do more surfing at shows with fences tho, because being passed over the fence meant security would send me out the side and back into the crowd
stage diving surfs don't last as long since the flow of the "wave" is toward the stage, but catch it from the back of the crowd and could be riding across hands for 30 seconds singing along

except at the Minot State Fair in North Dakota one year
went crowd surfing during STAiND's set (Lo-Pro and Static-X opened)
and fucking security on the other side of the fence sent anyone who did back out of the show
then would not honor ticket stubs to get back in, so had to stand at the gate listenning to the last few songs and waiting for my cousin and uncle to make their way out

c'est la vie, leave it to my one concert in the US to be the one where security were jerks

oh, and uhhhhhh, seriously moshpits would be a nightmare for corona transfer
all that sweat and spit and shouting and collisions
