Look at the mulch bed too, looks like that green fertilizer/herbicide they spray on ball fields and park lawns. I think that green is that spray that got on some of the mushrooms.

Good point BC lol. And Pariah I always thought those blue/green wood chips I always see was some sort of fungal growth.

Yes there was blue and green splatter on many woodchips. I think you're probably right about it being a twig but I was unsure because it was soft and squishy and fibrous like a mushroom stipe. Also it was hallow through the middle and the outer layer was peeled off revealing more blue. However it didn't turn any darker over a 24 hr period. Tried to capture some bruising because there weren't enough of the tiny aborts that seem to illustrate it so well. You all get the idea though! I've heard those may have a higher concentration of actives than the larger, older fruitbodies. Doubt I will be able to munch down any of those giants!

I think in some instances it is, I'm just going of my personal experience. The handful of mulch beds I've checked over the years were all in a park area and I have seen them spray that green shit all over the place. I've never seen them directly spray the chips but they get hit with overspray and it gives it patches of dark green. I believe it could also be fungal, I didnt think before i typed that last time lol the things i say should never be taken as canon, just anecdotal.

Never tried Gyms. Are they any good? I almost positive there is a patch on the golf course I belong too. Just never really put any effort into looking for them.

The ones Ive found are quite potent. Id say a little less than cubes. But some people say theybare fairly weaker. Wild mushroom potentcy varies from mushroom to mushroom, given substrate, nutrients, conditions, enviornment etc...

I do only eat the smaller still purple ones though. I leave most the bigher ones that have turned orange already. Unless i want to spread the spores to another spot ill put those spores from them and bury the mushroom in those areas
