Mycelium turning brown
    #26700732 - 05/28/20 01:17 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Help! I do see a few other topics similar to mine but haven't found any definitive answer;
I'm a first time grower, trying a few different substrates and other variables in 4 tubs. 2 of the tubs have a horse manure base substrate and the other 2 have a coir and coco peat base substrate. I'm on day 6 of the spawn run, the 2 coir/coco tubs are doing nicely with a snowy white mycelium spreading well. The 2 horse shit tubs started well but today the mycelium has started turning brown and has rapidly got worse - more brown than white now, 1 or 2 yellowish spots as well, I'll attach pics.

A concern I did have was that the substrate was a bit on the wet side compared to the coir. I could squeeze drops out in the hand.
Is this browning due to excessive moisture, heat, contamination or something else? The same spawn was used on all tubs with the coir tubs showing no browning but the horse shit browning which points to the substrate, maybe my pasteurizing wasn't effective?
I'm keeping the grow room at 26degC and humidity ranges 40-60%.
Any suggestions?

Let it  Dry out and evaporate once in a while.

Everything is turning Brown

It's warming up now so 2 weeks ago everything came out of the basement and out to the enclosed front  Porch. It has a ceiling fan and everything is working out better now
