Is this black mold growing in the middle of mycelium or is this whole plate fucked?

So only 1 out of the 4 plates I knocked up 5 days ago have shown any growth and it's this plate. At first I thought I saw tomentose mycelium growth but as you can see here :

There is a black dot in the middle and I'm now thinking this is black mold or possibly trich I'm just wondering though if anything here is actually mycelium and can be transferred?
I never seem to have any luck getting rhizomorphic growth on agar so it always makes indentifying healthy mycelium somewhat tricky on a first plate.

Thanks for the input.
Yeah I'm fully aware of what rhizomorphic growth looks like my issue is sometimes distinguishing tomentose growth from contamination. Especially when it's a plate inoculated directly from a spore syringe and there being a real possibility of both existing on the same plate at the same time.

Next time you put spores to agar, streak your spores instead of just one drop in the middle. If done correctly, and with a little luck, it will spread germinated spores and potential contams far enough apart that it'll be more obvious what's healthy myc and what isn't, and thus make identifying and transferring easier

Thanks I'm guessing I would need to use a spore print to achieve this though right?

Not necessarily. I highly recommend only working with spore prints on agar simply because a print is easier to work with. But, sometimes all you have of a certain variety is a syringe so you gotta make it work. There's 2 ways, more or less, to streak with a syringe:
Put a drop of spore solution towards the edge of the plate (as in the spot you want to start the streak). Then flame your loop, cool it in agar, and start your streak pattern beginning by putting your loop into your drop of solution already on the plate. -or- Flame your loop (or use a cotton swab), and put on drop on the loop to cool it then once more drop on the loop after it's cooled and then streak your plate with that. This way works much better with sterile swabs IME and is the better if the two ways IF you have some sterile swabs made/bought.

There could potentially be some mush myc growing on the plate too but by the time you see color in mold contam it more than likely sporulated and anything transferred from the plate is gonna be very hard to clean up (if there's even any myc at all to clean).. Much easier to restart in my opinion
You can streak spores from a print or syringe.. A very good technique for thinning cultures early on and as mentioned above makes it much easier to transfer away from contams that could come off the prints as well..
Just make or buy an inoculation loop.. Some ppl use a scalpel as well..
