Is my block a loss cause?

First time mushroom grower here, So when my spawn jar was finished colonizing I noticed dark blue color, I marked it to hopefully be just bruising, but tossed the piece that did have that color just in case. I mixed my spawn with my substrate 7 days later I have this.

I feel like i just have a block of mold. There is not foul smell but it doesn't look healthy in my eyes. Want to know what anyone with experience thinks, since i have none. Thank You.

Hey mate! So I see hyphal knotting and some great looking myc here. Seems like it'll push fruits soon. I am almost sure that blue patch you saw was just bruising. Next time you should check in here with the shroomery we're pretty good at picking out contam vs bruising.

Looks fine. I Dont see any cause for concern. Mycelium will exhibit different types of growth such as rhizomorphic and tomentos growth so having something look different from what others post isnt necessarily wrong in your case its tomentos growth (fluffy). Most prefer rhizomorphic growth so you may be comparing 2 different types of growth if you are looking at pics.

I appreciate the response. I alot of worry off my shoulders. If I could I would like to ask about misting. I was a bit concerned about how I should mist. I just been misting the walls of my tub. Should I ever mist the mycelium or just keep misting the walls?

Its fine to mist the substrate and actually beneficial. You just dont want to over do it. If there are water droplets on it dont mist. You want the water droplets to fully evaporate off the sub or any mushrooms that are present and once that happens mist.

This is the thread you need for surface conditions. Good luck with your grow mate.
