Contamination identification
    #26698853 - 05/27/20 07:54 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

First post in about 10 years. I decided to come back.

I have my first run of BRF cakes going and they are over 90% colonized. I noticed a spot on one of them. Please let me know what you guys think. It alao kind of looks like a pin tryiong to form too.

Those jars look pretty bacterial from what I can see. I can't tell if the yellow is the uncolonized substrate or the myc producing metabolites.

That whole jar looks like bacteria. And those are metabolites.

Thanks for the confirm. I couldn't tell looking at it from my phone. Not surprised a jar that bacterial would show metabolites. You may get fruits from it OP, but it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and start a new round of jars.

What was your inoculation procedure and did you use a spore syringe? It will help for figuring out where the contam was introduced
