Wow, that's amazing for your first time iht. I haven't gone on my first hunt yet. I plan to this week. A bit nervous though, so we'll see if I actually get into a pasture.

All I need is one good hunt and I can use some cultured patties to try to grow in my backyard.

There Are Many Ways To Get Into A Pasture.

The First Is (TRESSPASSING) :omgz:

Find A Pasture That Is Not Right Next To Any Main Roads, One Down A Dirt Road Somewhere.

Find A Pasture With Alot Of Tree/Bush Coverage, Not Just An Open Field.

Find A Pasture With Some Woods Running Next To It. Walk Through The Woods To Get In - Out Pasture.

Find A Pasture With A (Canal, River, Stream, Creek) Running Through It, Dress Up In Your Fishing Gear & Go Fishing, All The While Collecting Fungi.
You Could Even Kayak To A Pasture Through A Waterway.

(I DO NOT ADVISE YOU TO TRESSPASS) But..The Main 2 Things You Don't Want, Is Someone Seeing You From A Road, Or Someone Seeing You Out In The Pasture. This Is Why An Open Pasture With Roads On All 4 Sides Is Not A Good Selection.
Remember, Don't Dress Like A Hippie Or A Thug, Dress Like A Country Boy Or Nerd & You'll Be Fine

The Second Would Be (NOT TRESSPASSING)
These Are The Better Ways To Get Into A Pasture.

Ask For Permission. Don't Lie, Tell The Farmer/Land Owner You Study Fungi & Your Interested In Taking Pictures Of The Fungi That Grows On Their Land. Be Very Respectful & Know What Your Going To Say Before You Walk Up To Him/Her. Don't Stutter Or Say "Uhh".

Offer To Pick Up Trash & Other Debris, Offer To Do Some Chores, Offer Them 20$ Everytime You Come To Hunt, Offer Them Fish, Shrimp, Or Crabs You Catch, Offer Them Edible Fungi You Find On The Land, Etc...
You Could Also Buy Your Own Land & Your Own Cows. If You Have The Money.

Sorry This Got So Long, Im Bored.

Haha, I love it though.

Yeah, I think my first plan of action will be the asking permission. There are plenty of pastures around my area all within 30 minutes to an hour drive. And I'm pretty charming and look innocent, so that should definitely work in my favor.

My next question would be, it's supposed to rain the next 3 days 80% chance, and then the following 4 days isolated at like 40%chance.

If I go after the 3rd day of rain, will the field be too wet? Or should I wait until the end of the week/ beginning of next week to leave time for the fields to dry a little bit?

Ok, Thanks. I'll probably wait a little then so I'm not trekking through mud and picking up soaked patties

Hey thanks!!! It did take a month or so of scouting up and down from Titusville to Jupiter, going out a bunch of times before the mushrooms found me

They will find you too, just be patient and keep looking !

i would wait 4-7 days after the first rain in the series, and then start hitting pastures every 3 days or so.

Alrighty, I'll do that then.

And the rains begin! Forecast has even increased to looking like it will be raining for an entire week now.

I have found them up to 14 days after as little as a 1/16 inch of rain, humidity is a major factor for fruiting, especially if temperatures reach the dew point at night and humidity is high during the day.

However, keep in mind that the largest flushes will occur within the first 5 days after rain but this all depends upon humidity staying up above 60%.

If more people will contribute to the data collection thread for this species we can get a much better idea of how they fruit.

I Knew They Could Fruit Without Rain, Because I Saw A Post Of Yours Showing Some Nice Cubes You Found From Just Dew & Humidity.

It Rained Pretty Hard Here All Day Yesterday & Some This Morning So I Went Out Not Too Long Ago, But Didn't Find Any.

The Ground Is Soaking Wet Though, So I'll Be Going Out Looking Damn Near Every Day.

Let us know how your search goes today! I plan on going out for my first hunt tomorrow, but probably can only go once or twice this week.

But I did find a field that I have access to without trespassing, so I'm really excited now!

That's awesome, be super respectful and expect people to approach you and ask questions,  I pick nonactives as well for when people ask questions I can show them the nonactives. Also,  pick up and dispose of trash, glass, nails, old horse shoes, etc. the owners will appreciate it and see that you are not a shitbag. I also bring a hammer and nails to mend fences while I hunt occasionally. There's always something to be done on a farm/ranch so when you get permission from the owner it's a good idea to pay it back and make some new friends.

I will be seeding a couple local fields in Seminole County, the cows need some spores.  I'm thinking of stuffing a bunch of spores into bread and places them throughout the field.  Apparently cows like stale bread so why not smother it in spores, inject it with spores, all the likes.    I went out last weekend and nothing, litterally two inactives.  We just got some heavy rain, and then some more rain.  I want to go out in an hour or two but I'm not going to; I've got to much work to do and I know it's going to be bare.  I will wait another week until this shit gets going nice.

I've almost legitimized my business and once that's done I'm making cards and I will be tALKING to every land owner, and I mean every landowner to ask for permission on their land.    I'm hoping 1 out of 100 say yes.

Good luck on your hunts yall!

EDIT:  I'm going to meet up with another member on here to go look for some edible gourmets, he said he has a reishi and an oyster spot.  If I die everybody hunt this mofo down.  I'm going to message his username to a couple friends just incase lol

yo newbie here, trying to find spots for my first hunt, been driving around Ocala area like crazy most spots are too open any suggestions on finding fields besides what has already been said in this thread? Also how would you contact landowners? I feel kinda weird driving down private long driveways onto someone's property, and then to go up and knock on their door. just paranoid as hell. was gonna just try my best to cultivate at home, but living under my parent still, it isn't so easy
