Water ph levels for oat spawn tek

I have been having huge issues spawning agar to oats. It doesn't matter what I change in my oat prep, and I honestly believe I've tried everything over and over again, with exactly the same results. Slow growth, after 7 days the jars stop growing. Every time. Crystal clean beautiful agar transfers, 80 degree temps, no contamination, just stop. 75 plus jars over 6 months. Is it possible that high ph levels in my oat prep is high? Check this out, I now know I have extremely high ph levels from my sink close to ph 10, when it's boiling it's so high it's off the charts, (which I've been boiling my oats in). So I've been going to the local help yourself bottled water machine to get my water which has a ph of 6.2. I thought I was good to go, but no! same results. I tested the ph of this water at a boil and it was of the charts also. Purified drinking water was the only water that disnt change its ph at a boil. Distilled water ph actually went down at a boil. I'm sure the local water machine uses the same crap that comes out of my sink. Is it possible that my oats I've been prepping for 6 months ph levels are to high for mycelium growth.

I'm 99% sure your problems aren't based in water ph. Post pics of your agar plates and grain jars for people to look at.
I've never heard of anyone having to adjust their water ph on here. But 10 is extremely high.

Ph hits 13 plus during and after boil cool down. Lol, I just shook all my grain jars after 20 days with little or no growth. I put All my clean cultures to grain, I only have 3 contaminated plates lying around. Should I even bother posting pics? Something is just not right over all. I'm far from an idot for sure, not my first time either. But I did just move .

The only thing I can say is to restart and get some clean cultures. Start with a different spawn medium. Try WBS and see if you have the same issue. I really don't think PH is the problem.

You must be a mind reader! I just prepped WBS, did another round of oat prep ( boiled in purified water, cold and hot ph 6.5), inoculated agar with PE spores. I've be fighting RW's for months. Pretty sure it's been my tap water, or some contamination in it. When I first moved here I was using tap water for agar tek, like I have hundreds of times before, couldn't get anything to grow at all on plates, tested at 10 out of sink, 13.5 after PC. Using distilled water now, perfect results. I'm getting a water contamination report later today. I live in BFE in Az, probably nuclear waste dump around! Thanks for your imput.

Yeah I wonder about the water. But what led you to test the PH. It is an issue for anything that grows, but it isn't the first thing people think of. I would try harvesting some rain water and run with that.

I used bottled purified water to boil oats, total colonization less than 14 days, 20 jars 0 contamination.
