Stem rot?
    #26696721 - 05/26/20 10:38 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Contam? Is the low FAE a likely cause? I'm using 4 slightly overlapping pieces of micropore tape on 4 of the holes and 2 pieces on the other 2. There is some water pooling on the surface.

I see a little bacteria but nothing to stress about.
I would incorporate an adjustment to your FAE. Let them breathe.

Yep looks like it need more FAE or PAE or just some air.

Ok, reduced the micropore tape to just one layer with a slight overlap per hole, for now.

Should I remove the most affected mushrooms from the tub? Are they still viable?

I didn't see anything to stress on, but take a picture with the lid off.

Sock - nice.. :noargument:

Nopenope. Like my coworker Strainz had said a pic of the actual inside of the tub will get you some eyes on advice. Hard to tell through the plastic and there’s no need to attempt to be sterile now.

It's caused by the over-saturation

Umm, is this still looking good to you guys? This is 100% vert, right?

Some of the most relevant cases I found:

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23563210
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6636326
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25098069

Seems like there's two opinions:
1. Isolate and discard the affected fruits
2. Let it develop, dry, make tea

At this point, since it took me 6w to get the tub to this point, I'm leaning toward the second one.

Update.

All of the ones >1" have the veils broken. Should I harvest them?
Are they usable or should I discard them?

No, just curled up like that.

Harvested all the ones with the broken veils, 58 grams. I guess this is a first flush. About half could be categorized as having hollow stems. Bluing is normal, right? Will do an alcohol extract to minimize bacterial issues.

The next flush is looking a lot healthier.

Yep blues normal.

Those are pretty solid stems. It’s so nice when that happens.

PE always blows mind when I throw it on the scale and see how heavy it is.

Don’t feel like you have to do an alcohol extraction.
Those would be no problem to consume.
