I think voting is a waste of time and a silly way to lie to yourself and to be lied to. It almost annoys me when people try to say that voting is important and that i really should register to vote. Can you convince me otherwise? Am I retarded? Or am I too realistic in a way that is too truthful and brute fact for society to handle, that I don't want to participate in a supertisious ritual called voting?

i agree with most of that, but i think voting is effective on a smaller scale say like voting to put in a stop light at a dangerous intersection.. but when it comes to politicians, yeah its a total charade

Voting have to be counted. Voting creates job
I've actually been a vote counter before. wasn't a bad job. Well paid for what i did.
As for if it's worth voting, i don't know. I'm highly sceptical but i must admit that when i was a counter most people did vote for one of the two big parties. With that in mind i have talked with people and i think the bigger issue is that people are too afraid to 'waste their vote' to not vote for their preferred candidate between the big two. It's a self perpetuating issue and until people stop fearing the opposite side getting in and actually acknowledging what others have to offer nothing will happen. People are typically lazy by nature too. Most people use shit bank accounts for example. I'm one of them but i must admit that i stupidly have two super accounts but i'm too lazy to combine them at the moment. Educating one's self on what each party has to offer is a hella task for the average person with little payoff for most people.

If voting didn't matter the GOP wouldn't do everything they can to suppress votes.
That alone should be all the evidence one needs to understand how important voting is.

Even for your own self satisfaction. So what if the reptilian baby eating Illuminati mind controllers from other dimensions are in control, you should still vote.

Oh look, messages like this ahead of the election, right on schedule.
The people who sell shit like "don't vote" are always places like Russia, China, dystopian regimes that want people to not vote to undermine the legitimacy of elections and faith in democracy. That's the only reason messages like this exist. If you're not voting you're being used as a shill for foreign powers.
Not voting is fucking stupid.

I vote for stuff I am informed about but I don't understand why people get super hateful towards others who don't vote. Especially when they act like it's a public service. Their one vote out of millions is far less impacting than the conflict they create when they try to manipulate others into voting. I am of the opinion that votes matter, regardless of the fact that money is the most powerful political tool. Still, I believe there are many things one can do to better society, without being involved in elections. I also like George Carlin's idea that it is the voter's fault for electing politicians that everyone hates. That is not a flawed argument. At the same time, if people did not vote, people might gain power through force instead, and would not care about re-election or public support because that did not and would not help them in their quest to control the masses. It seems a little paradoxical. In a healthy society, people would not need to vote because people would look after one another. Whether it is reform or revolution, I don't see a likely way to bring back the golden age. I don't think people should not be coerced into voting any more than they should be forced to shop local and be vegans. Not only do people resist this restraint, the calamity that results from this conflict is harmful in itself. So I say, enough with the vote-shaming and just be beneficent beings. Hate is ineffective. Informing works sometimes. I am content with that.

I find voting for my local alderman/town Councillor/school board and Senate/House has a pretty big impact on my life, especially local officials. So even if you skip President/Senator/Representative votes, I really suggest you participate in your local elections as it gives you a voice (town hall meetings literally let you have your say directly to) your government which can be a powerful thing. It is unfortunate so few people actually get involved locally.

I agree with you that they are not obligated to vote for who they pledge. There were ten faithless electors in 2016. While they usually do give votes accordingly, that is no excuse for keeping it in place. The whole idea behind it was to keep elites in power. If the voters "mess up", there would be that filter to "correct" the people's will. Basically, if a radical got voted in, they could make sure that they do not upset the system. So, it doesn't make voting completely meaningless. It's more like a safety net for elites.

Democracy - no matter how were taught to love it - is destroying the planet
It’s a very depressing pill to swallow.

It almost annoys me when people try to say that voting is important and that i really should register to vote. Can you convince me otherwise? Am I retarded? Or am I too realistic in a way that is too truthful and brute fact for society to handle, that I don't want to participate in a supertisious ritual called voting?
Yeah sorry, but I vote retarded, like really retarded. If people didn't vote then we would still have segregation, illegal weed, 80 hour work weeks with no overtime pay, and so on.
Voting is important. I think the laws on voting should be changed though because a low IQ/retarded persons vote carries the same weight as my vote or a doctors vote and that is why we end up with bad candidates. Voting should be limited to people with average to high intelligence. The 2 party system and campaign funding laws really need to be changed too, but how do you change it without voting or violence?

The people who sell shit like "don't vote" are always places like Russia, China, dystopian regimes that want people to not vote to undermine the legitimacy of elections and faith in democracy. That's the only reason messages like this exist. If you're not voting you're being used as a shill for foreign powers.
Not voting is fucking stupid.

Electoral college ignores your votes on the reg look it up. You dont vote, they do. They have zero obligation to make their vote based on the people's so yes actually your vote does not count.
So why is there a concentrated effort by a particular party to suppress certain people's votes?
If none of it mattered they wouldn't care who voted.
Let them all mail in their votes since its no big deal right?

Everyone wants to redefine democracy to fit their image of what it is.
Trump won. Trump or Biden will win.
Crony capitalism wins in democracies. It’s inconvenient for sure but the proof is in the pudding.

Not true.
Democracy is any governmental system where citizens get to vote for a candidate.
There are many, MANY forms of democracy.
Nobody here has tried to twist or change this definition.
Quote:
Trump won. Trump or Biden will win.
True, one or the other will be the next president.
This is an obvious fact that some people simply can't wrap their feeble little minds around. Until some major changes happen within our democracy we are stuck with the two-party system. A third-party candidate has no chance to win a presidential election at this time.

You guys should just get together and vote for some random. Imagine like, idk, Bill Burr as president. Or some random. The public needs to present their own candidates. Sure in places like Canada it would mean a minority government but those parties would fall in line once it's obvious that someone is there to expose them. It's exactly what these countries need and Donald Trump was precisely the big hats being ahead of us on it, and they bastardized it. They made the idea look stupid. And don't get me wrong it could be a horrible fucking idea. But voting for the same results over and over again is just as ridiculous. If people truly hate the system in place then a real curveball, taking a chance, is the only way something is going to happen. It never will though, because these governments use social acceptance as a means to garner confidence. Just look at all the plebs running around, even on this site, who are like "the government never said that so UR WRONG!" It's just like China

Voting here sure is different than back in Texas.
Colorado your votes matter.
Texas, not so much.
Texas does not have a legal system to vote in favor of cannabis like Colorado citizens did.

Anything that strengthens the public opinion "voting matters" means more people participating in a way that no longer has an effect; instead spending all their limited political free time that could be spent forcefully making the change they want to see.
In the current electoral college setting where we also have corporations in the highly influential positions that they have achieved (corporations are people/more than people) you need to make the change you want to see through free market. Telling someone else to do it isn't the way.
