ID request. Are these subs?

Hi guys,
I found these growing in my garden bed on some wood chips. I’m new to all of [gradient:#,#][/gradient]this been have been trying to do some research of late. I live in Melbourne, Victoria. Would these be baby subs? They are only about 1-3cm in height. I don’t want to touch them to see if they bruise yet as they look very young. How long until I should pick them? Will they disappear back into the earth if I leave it too long? Thanks everyone.

They look promising, but you'll need to take close up pictures of the gills and stem before we can conclude.

yes, Psilocybe subaeruginosa
beautiful finds
Edit: but yes you should include a photo with other features, including gills, and stem to be sure.

Nice one, looking likely to be subs. Observe the gills and bruising then collect a spore print for confidence.

I would pick the bigger ones, smaller ones I'd leave for a day or so
Make sure to pinch them near the base when picking to help them grow again in the future

Ok so I’ve picked one to see what kind of spore print I get in the morning. In the meantime here is some more close up shots. They’re about 6 similar sized ones. Not sure if that’s enough at that size to eat fresh without weighing them. Thanks.

there is no question of which sporeprint you will get for these. This is one of those cases where your initial pictures were all that was needed and your last pictures show the feature that proved it.
Always take spore prints when in doubt but also always take pictures that quality.

If you eat 6 at that size you will know about it.
It all Depends on the experience your after and your experience level.
Fresh is always tough to gauge but if you want a good trip start with 3 and see how you're travelling at the 1 and a half hour mark.

Thanks for that. I’ve never had shrooms before. I’m a 40 yr old male and weigh about 100kg. I guess I’m looking for about a level 3.

Well mate these are a beautiful thing when treated with respect.
There are a multitude of different opinions but mine is. Start slowly and work your way into these things.
The big dose may come down the track but only if you haven't given yourself a scare on the way there.
I'm 80 kg and have a large amount of experience enough to know that when dealing with fresh anything can happen.
I'd have 3 and wait for the 1 and a half you can always have more...You cannot suddenly have less.
Regardless of the outcomes know that no matter how deep you go you will be fine. Relax and accept and allow whatever happens.

Doesnt get easier than this. Pick whats in the right picture, leave whats in the left picture.

I’m gutted! 😫 I returned from work today to pick the larger ones only to find an animal of some sort has basically destroyed the patch! Only a couple pins and some stems left planted. I’ve salvaged a few of the caps and stems that were ripped out and put them in a paper bag in the fridge to try and have them with a mate on the weekend. The weight is approx 30g so I’m hoping that will be heaps for both us. My only worry is that the patch will never regrow. Should I remove the left over stems in the soil or just leave the area alone?

Bring the stems home to your fridge. Leave the pins and wait, they'll be back.
