Partner has an aunty with schizophrenia... mushrooms?

I have gotten into psychedelics recently and it is something I would love to share with my soon to be wife.
I am informed enough to know that you shouldn't go near psychedelics if you have a family history of mental illness, particularly psychotic disorders as it can trigger it. I have worked in psyc wards and wouldn't wish psychosis on my worst enemy, let alone the missus.
My question is this, has anyone with a history of such illnesses dabbled in mushrooms (specifically)?
How did you go? How much have you done? Whats your story?

Heres another question:
Does anyone have a schizophrenia/BPAD diagnosis and has done mushrooms?
I dont know of any research going on with psilocybin and severe schizophrenia but would be interested to read some...

One of my close friends growing up, the one who introduced me to mushrooms, he had something going on in his family history. He himself was a little bit awkward when younger but more or less normal, he also was extremely talented & intelligent. Grew up & got his PhD in chemistry from a good university & has had some success with woman. However, the first time we did mushrooms together was apparently fine, but the next 2 times he absolutely had psychotic breaks. We were about 17-22 years old during those trips. Completely delusional and irrational after the first hour and a half. I ended up having to baby sit him pretty hard to make sure he didn’t hurt himself or get himself into trouble.
I won’t get into much of the details for anonymity’s sake but, let me just say that during that time I always kept a benzodiazepine for emergencies, especially when tripping with someone else. And I’m glad I did. I would keep 2 x 2mg Lorazepam per each individual tripping as a rule. So 2 people total - I had a lock box I would bring with the emergency info, contact info, and basic info of both individuals present & 4, 2mg Lorazepam total.
I’ve never used one while tripping, and unfortunately - the one trip I could of used one due to a medical emergency (heavy precipitated opiate withdrawal + a bad psychedelic trip) - I did not have them
He on the other hand, benefited from taking the emergency med when he went psychotic. For the first 2 hours I couldn’t discern if he was trolling me, or if he was just having a bad trip - so I did everything I could think of to prove some basic unchanging facts about who he was and who I was and where we were and what we were doing etc etc - calmly & rationally speaking with him in an attempt to allay any fear & worry etc - it became apparent after those hours that (based on knowing him very well for 10 years & his sudden 180 in personality, accusations, delusions, behavior & paranoia etc etc - after having seen him trip and be fine the first time) this was not simply a case of someone having a scary or bad trip. He was stuck hardcore in these awful loops and he lost his sanity.
Every now and then he would become Lucid for about 30 seconds or so after being delusional for about 30 minutes at a time , and eventually when I caught onto this pattern I jumped at the opportunity to explain everything quickly about what was going on, and how he had to trust me & take this medication & relax and try to get some sleep & that I would be there the whole time holding his hand through it all till he was okay again. Luckily he understood crystal clearly during that lucid moment and he complied willingly and thankfully.
After wards he cycled a few more times as the drug was being digested in his system and I got him all set up and he eventually felt more at ease & proceeded to fall asleep. The next morning he was extremely embarrassed & apologetic - I was just glad my friend was okay & back to normal.
Anyways, It worked for him. But I can’t attest to everyone, neither can I attest to what he was predisposed to via his family medical history, other than the fact he later disclosed that there were family members with significant mental health problems along the tree.
The lorazepam worked quickly and efficiently & frankly 4 mg is a large dose, but in hospitals they often use just ( and sometimes other meds instead ) that to combat psychosis, anxiety, stimulant overdoses, psychedelic overdoses & bad trips, seizures, and other things - etc.
By the way - We had each taken 3.7g’s of some potent fungi that night.
The bento simply forcibly, yet pleasantly - calmed him down. dulled / or nearly stopped the trip (not 100% but maybe 75%), and allowed him to get into a bed & fall asleep quickly & easily. It was either that or he would have needed hospitalization. I truly believe I helped save my friends mind that night. And thank god, because he had & has a truly gifted mind.
The 3rd time I tripped with him I was at a concert/ festival & I was tripping and went with my gf at the time - he happened to be there with a group of friends of his from college & they were all tripping. He again had a bad reaction. He’s okay today, but he wisely gave up on psychedelics. He told me he could feel it was going to permanently unhinge him one day sooner than later if he kept using them - and he had only tripped a total of 5-6 times in his life total. He does use Cannabis, but he did smoke 3-4 times a week and was okay with it - but he eventually gave that up as well, or limited its use to concerts & festivals only.
Anyways - that’s my limited personal offline experience with the subject matter. All I can do is share my story, but I by no means know much of anything at all when it comes to this aspect of psychs & schizophrenia/ and psychotic mental illness/disorders.
Whatever you end up doing I wish the best to you and your wife, keep learning & you may develop a better sense of what the right move is, and what the wrong move is.
Shroomery has its own little share of members whom I presume display schizo/psychosis, by reading their posts, especially ones that express classic sighs of delusions grandeur’s, plain old delusions, paranoia, disorganized thinking, (glossolalia) hyper associative linguistics & connecting dots that aren’t there, those kinds of things.
It can come in handy to be able to recognize the signs & symptoms. Also! Sorry about my post’s poor writing form..its a bad habit when I write/type on an iPad using my fingers, and I haven’t edited it.. and I’m tired"...need sleep! Gnit ! 💤

My best friend is a meth smoking , mushroom growing , nut case .
He had a psychotic break 4 years ago - diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic .
He got really weird from the mess of medicine for a couple years . I gave him some mushies for his dying roommate (cancer).
Anyhow , he ate some too - asked for some spores .
He eats mushrooms probably like 1 time a week , smokes fuck tons of dmt and meth daily .
He actually seems normal again - well how I remember him from high school .
This is not the case for MOST. You could really mess some one up worse , I wouldn’t give them to another schizophrenic unless I knew they’re personality. My buddy also had a history of heavy psychadelic use so I wasn’t worried .
I wish he’d lay off the meth but he’s in it pretty deep - I think it’s what also originally exacerbated his schizophrenia .
I knew another kid when I was younger , would smoke dmt with us - he was reall bad schizophrenic . This guy had a 1000 yard stair and his eyes were always saucers . He apparently ate 2 hits of acid at 14 , and it never ended for him .
I wasn’t the first to give it to him , but a buddy did and the guy said that the dmt made him feel normal for a few minutes .

Wow that is a harrowing story. Thanks for taking the time to share.
I am not at all inclined to offer my partner psychedelics given history as there just isnt enough information out there yet. It will be interesting to see if there is a threshold dosage needed in some people and what predisposing personality traits might herald an onset of intractable psychosis.
