Lion's mane mycelium burst?
    #26695561 - 05/25/20 07:01 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Hi guys, I got me some lions mane mycelium growing on some soaked oats. I had some pretty whispy mycelium so I shook up the bag. I check back in a couple of days and get this burst of either:

A) Some nice, very white mycelium growth
B) The dreaded cobweb

Any trained eyes out there able to recommend moving forward with the fruiting or ditching this run?

Thanks

When did you inoculate that?

I think it is fruiting.  If it doesn't smell bad, I'd probably spawn it.

Ohhh i didnt know you could grow lions mane on oat. Iam tottaly new to this forum and this is my first written words.
I bought growkits tried with strawpellets overwatered it in it got mold. Moved the remaining mycellium to a bag wood chips from elm tree sofar nothing happened but reading bow you can grow it on oat iam considering to restart. Where i live pinedust is easy to get birch is hard but i read it dont like aromatic wood like pine. I could be wrong though.

Yeah I'm not much of an expert on wood types but generally you want to use hardwood.  If you can get hardwood fuel pellets those are the easiest to use.

Thank you Forrester.
Most fuel pellets here are also made on pine or mixed with birch and other woods easy to get though.
Il test and see.

Shoot, I inoculated some oat grains in mason jars probably first week of April. After a month and a halfish I transferred 2 jars to some hard wood pellets and then the remaining jar to the pictured bag of grain. All in all probably around 3 months since inoculation with a g2g transfer in-between. It took quite along time for the hardwood pellets to fully colonized. I put them in a fruiting chamber this past Saturday.

Bag of grain doesn't smell bad and not rapidly colonizing so I think I'm in good shape to do a wood transfer soon.
