People seem to mostly be disobeying here. Would it be the same if she said to lock down three more months? Probably not. Though, that would put it close to the elections. We are a restrained people aside from certain groups.

Has anyone noticed new cases are increasing globally?
Also, do anyone know about the situation in India? They went from 1000 reported cases to 100 000 during a full lockdown of the country...
Are they reopened?

Probably taking a while to roll out testing in developing countries
Just look at how long it is taking here
America may only be first in case # as a result of population and ability to roll out testing. We will see...

The US has a relatively high positive test rate which means we are not really keeping up with infections, regardless of the population

The US is turning into a second rate loser country. We can’t seem to handle anything anymore. Not only can’t we handle this virus like other adult countries, our economy has been hit worse too. Half assed measures get half assed results

Transmission of the virus occurs indoors, not outdoors. I guess if you are sucking face with a COVID patient outside you could get it that way, but otherwise quit freaking out about people outside.
Oh yeah, the honored CDC just lowered the CFR to 0.4%, and it adjusts to <0.3% if you factor in the 35% asymptomatic cases.

We test more. We also didnt have the need for local and centralized governments like germany. We have unthreatening neigbors and the best geopolitical position in the world. Last pandemic we were in WWI.
There was no reason to think we were prepaired for this. There also isnt a correlation of lockdown and how well an area is doing. I thought it woukd be obvious and make me look like an idiot.
Its like I tried to tell my friend, intuitive doesnt mean scientific. People are too lazy to tell the differance.

Less than .3? Already more than .3% of the population in the Bronx has died. So that’s wrong. You can’t have a CFR that’s lower than the raw mortality rate. In Italy, hard hit towns have lost 2% of their population. So no. The CFR is at least 1%-1.5%
The CDC is a political operation now, unfortunately.

It depends on the inputs of statistics how valid they are. Is the data correct? Are you accounting for variables if the statistics are just raw data?
There is a differance between a model completely based on assumptions and a graph made from real data. Two people can see differant things in the same statistics depending on what you know and bias. And we all are bias

Eh, I just looked up Bronx data for kicks:
0.244% rate which is attributed to poverty and minority population.

Guess Cuomo is in league with the CDC, lol.

Has anyone seen this yet? Is it even legit? https://calgaryherald.com/cannabis/cannabis-shows-promise-blocking-coronavirus-infection-alberta-researcher/ Cannabis extracts are showing potential in making people more resistant to the novel coronavirus, says an Alberta researcher leading a study.
After sifting through 400 cannabis strains, researchers at the University of Lethbridge are concentrating on about a dozen that show promising results in ensuring less fertile ground for the potentially lethal virus to take root, said biological scientist Dr. Igor Kovalchuk. “A number of them have reduced the number of these (virus) receptors by 73 per cent, the chance of it getting in is much lower,” said Kovalchuk.
“If they can reduce the number of receptors, there’s much less chance of getting infected.”
Employing cannabis sativa strains over the past three months, the researcher said the effective balance between cannabis components THC and CBD — the latter more typically associated with medical use — is still unclear in blocking the novel coronavirus...

im not convinced the infrastructure for accurately reporting cause of death exists in a lot of developing countries. I would image a lot of that relies on organizations like WHO but all that has to be rolled out. Also could just be that the circulating strains are getting increasingly weak over time. Just speculating

p.s. those kn95s I linked up thread are garbage. They feel so incredibly flimsy. Definitely not something I feel all that safe relying on.
