I Think He Is Referring To "The Hunter's High".
Game Hunter's Get This Feeling, So Do Trappers, Mushroom Hunters, & Anglers.
For Anglers It Is Called "The Fishermans High".

Not sure the science behind it but i feel like I have experienced microdose like effects after picking for hours. I am more sensitive to psychedelics than most tho

Saw lots of clusters on debris piles yesterday. Looking forward to seeing how this one area does for the second half of the season.
Here's some of the things I was able to observe on my hike.

Things are still alive up here in North Jersey. Looks like we had some drying blue pins that ended up getting revived from the rain, leaving some dark-blue centers on these guys

I'm out of their native range but they don't start popping here for another few weeks or month.

There are sooo many moldy ovoids out there
But I think you’re slacking, Koodsie.
Found a couple pounds on your turf this morning, some even on a log! (Tho tbh it might have been an extra large branch).

Plenty to be had here in the floodplains. When hunting in hot weather like this you need to pick areas in full shade with adequate water supply. Its rare for them to fruit out in the open now almost always going to be under thick vegetation. Bring a machete eith a long blade or get yourself a quailty stick for searching under the knotweed and other plants. Got to work alot harder for them now going to be sweaty and fighting bugs the whole time.

You’re at least two weeks behind the DC area.
10x as much work for 10% yield. Not worth the ticks.
Bare mulch tends to fruit last in the season but that has already happened. This season is already longer than any in the past 10 years. They’ve already consumed their substrate.
I might dig through some debris piles for those funky ovoids that have never seen sunlight at some point

I found a dozen or so pins in Georgia today so maybe the longest season in 10 years will continue to chug along
