Combustion heater installation.

I'm attempting to install a combustion heater in my house.
The heater will be downstairs with the flue running up through the second story then out through the roof.
I will be doing most of the work then having a qualified friend come through to check ok then sign of so I can still insure the house,)

First up the hearth.

Up to sticking in some tiles and filing the mortar joints.

Did you put that hearth right on top of the hardwood/laminate floor? It looks a bit odd this way. How about thermal insulation/protection of the wall behind the heater? I imagine it'll get pretty hot there.

No I cut back the floating floor back to the concrete slab...leaving the last inch of floating there to mak a neat finish.
I tried my hardest to find the make and model of my heater which would've then told me exactly how close I could get but couldn't.
To be safe I found the distances recommended for the hottest heater (furthest away) and went by those.
300MM to the sides and atelast 500mm back...im outside those.
Ill judge it going forward if I need to add a back section I will.

Sounds like you applied some sane reasoning in this; that's comforting. Nice project!

Voila.
Not to many issues. Forgot to take up phone for top shot but rest assured it's done.
Had some help on this one from a mate.
Now for warmth.

Nice work!
Did you do those angle joints on the stovepipe yourself?

Thanks.
No that section comes pre built at 45s thankfully. The thing is telescopic so can be made to fit easily.
I got super lucky with my angles and it all slotted like a kit,)
