Hopefully things aren't too bad where you're at yet. Maybe consider getting a cheapo bike off craiglist or ebay? Walking or cycling would definitely be healthier even if covid weren't a thing.
As far as where actual transmissions are happening, public transportation is definitely a no go. I'll see if I can find my source on that again because it was a fairly interesting and helpful document. Anyways, anywhere inside with prolonged exposure so places of employment, worship, public transportation, and covid stricken hospitals are generally what you have to worry about.

The medical system in the US is fucked in general. Been worked in a hospital, lots of good people trying to do the right thing to help others but ultimately it is the major corporations that are pulling the strings and profiting. Not trying to spread fear but I genuinely believe if you get sick with anything that does not require immediate medical intervention like surgery, stay the fuck away from the hospital. a buissness thst profits off of the ill may not have your best interests in mind.

Went to the big city park cuz there are some secluded forest trails. There were hundreds of people out bbqing, playing sports. Gatherings of over 20 people eating together. Children running everywhere. Not a mask in sight. I hope to god uv really kills this thing because otherwise... if nothing else this will be a solid test of how season/transmissible outdoors this thing is

Social distancing in the 'big city' is pointless anyway. I got a 1400sq ft row house in the city and I bet my couch is on the same wall as the guy next to me.
Awfully close if you ask me..

I really, really hope I'm wrong, but I just see absolutely no scenario in which any decently populated area of the country doesn't get slammed by this in the next 2 months.
My fairly small suburban county was #9 infected in the country last time I looked, and they're estimating (from antibody testing) that only 10% of people here have been infected so far. So far I have one cousin my age who's been hospitalized and still not recovered 2+ months later, a mother who is suspected to have had it in February and is now in a pretty scarey situation with fluid in her lungs and possible gastro and circulatory issues, a father in law who went in today for a CT scan for blood clots and is awaiting an okay for hospital admission (still awaiting COVID test result, though he's presumed positive), 2 cousins that were out of work for 3-4 weeks as they got slammed by the virus. Multiple at-risk former "essential" friends/coworkers in retail that I haven't heard back from. Without even taking a second to think about my own at-risk self or how economically fucked I'll be after all of this, what I'm seeing family members go through and all the uncertainty along the way is fucking hell. Every text message right now might be about a loved one taking a turn for the worse.
That's at an estimated 10% infection rate in my area, the real damage hasn't even started yet.
I'm not saying that my situation will be generalizable to everyone once their area gets a surge or that I have any solutions, but really people... take this shit seriously. The fairly low odds don't mean shit when it's you or a loved one that gets dealt the bad hand.

The chance of getting seriously ill or dying is about the same chance that Hillary wasn’t going to win the 2016 election. Unlikely events still happen.

I admire her ruthlessness and obvious dedication to evil. She still would have waited longer to close boreders. We still wouldnt have had the infrastructure to get ahead of it. It would have been nice if china covered it up completely and it regestered as a bad flu season. Noone would notice a few 100k deaths if it wasnt being served up everywhere.
At this point, id call it a hoax

Sort of like the unemployment hoax. Every year tens of millions of people are separated from their jobs and no one notices. And restaurants going out of business? Happens all the time. But the media would have you think people are out of work even as they post imagines of thriving factories.

The numbers are rigged. If someone calls in sick they call it job loss.

It's all being noticed now because you can't ignore it. Americans won't change anything, though. We're still a country of selfish assholes who want to claim we're the greatest in the Universe, but punish our friends and neighbors for being sick.

One of my product vendor's factories in china makes body bags, caskets, urns, and other mortuary supplies. I called up this Ian guy to order some stuff I needed completely unrelated to mortuary supplies and he told me that the nyc chief medical examiner ordered a shitload of stuff but that's about it. FEMA was talking with him but didn't pull the trigger on any ridiculous huge orders. and besides that everything has been absolutely normal.
The US distribution center is in new york. Not the city. But he didn't personally know anyone with covid yet

The number of cases identified in the province is still 292, including 17 which are active.
The province made the announcement in a news release on Sunday afternoon.
No one is in hospital with the illness caused by the new coronavirus in Manitoba.

people are still wearing masks and social distancing in public tho; lot less frequent than during the lockdown, but clearly people who are facillitating care of others are doing their part to stay clean in mediating things was at one of the largest city parks on the weekend in beautiful weather everyone was spread out, groups of about 4 at max, tho the government has "authorized" groups of 50 outdoors testing has been open for everyone for a number of weeks now, and people are regularly going in despite frequently having days with 0 cases

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-cuba/cuba-credits-two-drugs-with-slashing-coronavirus-death-toll-idUSKBN22Y2Y4
Quote:
Health authorities have reported just two virus-related deaths over the past nine days among more than 200 active cases on the Caribbean’s largest island, a sign they may have the worst of the outbreak under control.
The government, which hopes to increase its biopharmaceutical exports, has touted various drugs it produces for helping prevent infection with the new coronavirus and treating the COVID-19 disease it causes.
It ascribes the recent reduction in deaths of severely ill COVID-19 patients largely to the use beginning in April of two drugs that appear to help calm the “cytokine storm,” a dangerous overresponse by the immune system in which it attacks healthy tissue as well as the invading virus.
One is itolizumab, a monoclonal antibody produced in Cuba and elsewhere. The other is a peptide that Cuba says its biotech industry discovered and has been testing for rheumatoid arthritis in Phase II clinical trials.
“Some 80 percent of patients who end up in critical condition are dying. In Cuba, with the use of these drugs, 80 percent of those who end up in critical or serious condition are being saved,” President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Thursday in a meeting shown on state television.
Scientists caution that large placebo-controlled studies are needed to assess the safety and efficacy of these drugs for treating COVID-19.
But Cuba’s experimental treatments have helped it achieve an overall COVID-19 death rate of 4.2%, compared with the regional and global averages of 5.9% and 6.6%, respectively, health authorities say.
Fatality rates depend on many variables, including the rate of testing, quality of healthcare systems, and age and underlying health condition of the population.
Official data suggests that Cuba, with universal healthcare and a well-staffed care system, has done well in containing its outbreak. It has registered less than 20 cases per day over the past week, down from a peak of 50 to 60 in mid-April. In total, Cuba has reported 1,916 cases for a population of 11 million and 81 death.
That translates to an infection rate 0.71 per 100,000 inhabitants, compared with about 29 per 100,000 for the United States, according to a John’s Hopkins University tally.
Swift action helped Cuba contain its outbreak. After closing borders, schools and public transportation in March, Cuba urged residents to stay home, made wearing of masks obligatory, and employed effective contact tracing to curb the virus spread.
