Quick questions about making mushroom tea

Is it enough to simply pour boiling water over mushrooms (in a tea strainer) and let steep, then dispose of material?
If so what’s the ideal amount of time?
And is it different when using fresh or dried?
I’ve been doing this with fresh APEs in micro-doses only for the time being. They are incredibly strong for microdoses so it’s a good sign that the method is working. I simply cut them up, throw in my strainer with green tea and let sit for 10 mins then I add some lemon.
But I want to try it with a full dose and don’t want to waste it if the above method will not be as effective as just eating them.

My typical method is chopping/grinding 'em up putting them in the bottom of the mug and pouring enough hot water on to barely cover them.
Let it sit for 10 mins or so, then I fill it the rest of the way up with hot water and add my teabag. After 5 mins or whatever you normally brew your tea, dispose tea bag, strain out mush bits, squeeze excess water from mush and good to go.
I don't think lemon really does anything at all.

Interesting. Why only enough to barely cover them?
The lemon is just for flavor btw.

I'd rather not brew my tea too long. So Just enough water to get the goodies extracted, then I bring it up to volume for the tea bag.
Better to allow the boiling water to soak in the goodies for a long time, tea shouldn't brew more then like 3-5 minutes.

Right didn’t think a about that. I’m going to take your method for a spin! Thanks for the info

* When making tea by this method I add an extra (.5g) to (1g) dry to my total desired dose, to make up for not eating the fungi body.
So if you want to do 3.5g dry , you would weigh and use ~ 4.5g dry of fungi.
I put x amount of pre-weighed dry mushrooms into a blender and turn it into a fine powder
Put that powder into an empty tea bag, and then seal it shut.
Boil 8-12 oz of water until a rolling boil is achieved - and then turn off the stove.
Put the fungi tea bag in the hot water and let it steep for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes I squeeze any leftover liquid left in the tea bag into the water.
Throw away the fungi tea bag.
Drink your fungi tea concoction, you can add w/e you want to your taste preference but it’s great plain too.
Enjoi.

I use that blind asses method a lot too. I'm usually too lazy to teabag it up!
Also I have a dedicated coffee grinder for mushrooms...

You’re probably aware Socrateshroom that I’ve had a few “wild” trips this year. So much so I have cut out cannabis, and also reduced my dose. I also made the last tea without any lemon (to potentiate the dose), so it would be less intense.
And after reading PrimalSoup’s method so many times, I also decided to do his recommended boil.
I used plenty of boiling water to pour over the chopped up dried mushrooms. I brought back to boil then boiled rapidly for one minute, and then turned the heat down to minimum for ten minutes.
These mushrooms were 3 years 2 months old, I used no lemon, the dose was 3.5g but I chickened out and probably only drank 2.5g. The trip was as though the mushrooms were a month old.
Don’t think I’ll ever simmer for 20 to 30 minutes again, the boiling extracts all the actives.
Good luck DJ Ed

Awesome thanks everyone, I'll be testing the methods mentioned
DJ Ed, do you feel that any additional actives extracted from simmering for that 20-30 mins are negligible?

Wrong thread buddy. I don't know what you are looking for but i suggest creating your own thread in Getting Started or Mushroom Cultivation and asking with more detail what you need there. You'll get more replies that way versus asking a vague question in a thread that is completely unrelated.

Are you prone to nausea generally with shroomers and if so did this method reduce your nausea?
Thanks

I very rarely get nausea; and when this does happen, it’s generally because the mushrooms were very fine powder, so some will have got through the strainer.

Hi Socrateshroom,
Absolutely; I would say anything extracted after that first boil then simmer is indeed negligible.
I don’t have any scientific evidence, just anecdotal evidence from the shroomery; I used a relatively large volume of boiling water to start with, to make sure the water didn’t get “full” of chemicals and therefore wouldn’t have any capacity for extracting all the chemicals, if that makes sense.? But I don’t know how valid this concern is. After straining and squeezing, I was left with about 100ml of tea; I drink it down in one gulp, so taste is never an issue. Omitting the lemon made the come up more gentle, and the peak less intimidating...

Grind 1.5g to 3g of shrooms to a fine powder or as fine as you can.
Put in a cup with a lid 1-2oz of lukewarm concentrated lemon or lime juice.
Shake in your hand and keep it at body temperature for 30 minutes.
Strain.
Drink the liquid as a shot.
I've done that on multiple occasions and got every bang for my buck.
Too much heat is bad, steeping in acidic media for more than 30 minutes is bad too.
Keep it simple

I’ve done it every which way, and I prefer making it like a normal tea, more or less. I’d rather not ingest any mushroom body when I make tea. When I want to eat mushrooms, I eat them straight away.
As per tea, After the water begins to boil, I turn the stove off, and then pour that water into a coffee mug. It’s not scolding if you just bring the water to a roll and than instantly turn it off and transfer it. Also, letting it steep for 15-20m is longer than necessary but also not a problem in plain water - which btw, isn’t acidic, nor does it harm the psilocybin, it’s a neutral ph.
I wrote the steps out the way I did in my previous post because I get PMs asking, what I find to be, obvious things to anyone who has made any type of tea before- but that hasn’t stopped people from asking me painstaking details about the before, during, and after of every step when making tea.
Step 1
Weigh your fungi dose
Step 2
grind it into a powder
Step 3
make tea & drink it
That is what I’d like to say, but somehow there are still questions being asked about it.

It's the equivalent of asking how to take a blotter : on the tongue, under it, do you swallow it, how long do you keep it?
None of that really matters that much.
