Does inoculating a grain jar from agar take longer than from grains?

It's going but I feel like it is a little slow compared to fully colonized grain to grain transfer. Yes I sliced the piece up and distributed it all through the jar.
It was pretty aggressive rhizomorphic growth in the petri.
Thank you.

In my limited experience, the mycelium attaches from A2G quicker than G2G, and A2G is considerably less likely to become contaminated.

Agar and G2G are roughly the same speed given the myc is already healthy and growing on a sterile medium.

What? G2G should be much faster than just dropping in a wedge and if you have your sterile Tek down and a clean culture neither should become contaminated.

G2g is faster because of the amount of surface area and Inoculation points you can cover.
But if you were to do A2G and G2G with exactly the same amount of medium in weight they would probably be the same. Surface area of your transfer media and how many grains it can touch is the key to speed.
But yes agar and grains if clean are both good transferring media to expand a grain jar or 20.

Grain would still win IME. Well fed myc just recovers faster from my experience and agar myc usually isn't as well fed.

Does it matter why it's faster if it's faster? Hundreds of inoculation points is always going to win as opposed to the what 10 you get from agar and that's if you shake the shit out of it. Anything else would basically be LI or LC and that's not what the question pertains to. While your not wrong I don't see the point of stating that is all I'm saying lol. I fuckin love a2g I'm not ragging on it. Just answering the question without bias. Also I'm almost always careful in my wording that's why I said g2g should be much faster than A wedge dropped to grain. Either way

Well it is a sliced up wedge but yes of course grains would have a lot more inoculation points.
Hopefully everything is good! Just thought it would be a little faster.

The reason that I mentioned contamination is because it is easier for contams to hide in grain than in agar.

Ime g2g has always been like skipping right to the shake part of an a2g jar.
Sometimes if I’ve got extra jars I’ll only fill them halfway or a little less and then pour tons of colonized grains in.
Takes more jars but saves a few days.
