Such a stupid post but I put my agar in the fridge and the fucking media bottle won't open for shit. Several people have tried, tried opening it on a doorframe, run under hot water hahaha disaster. Anyone have any ideas?

If it boils over and you got sugary liquid in the threads it may be pretty stuck. Maybe try freezing it then heat up just the cap. The cap is plastic and thermal expansion is greater than the glass. May be able to get it that way

Tongue-and-groove pliers roughs up the cap a little bit but sure gets the job done. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongue-and-groove_pliers
having a blast reading about thermal expansion, Bods idea might work. Use pliers as last resort. perhaps if nothing works and using pliers as last resort it might suck in surrounding gas/air into the bottle

I'd try microwaving the entire thing until it's almost boiling over. The plastic caps are always got loose as shit when hot that's why I never tighten them down until they are cool.

Boiling a sealed bottle might be a bad idea. If the media was hot when you out it in the fridge it sounds like you got a vapor lock. I would just let it come to room temperature and try tomorrow.

Get one of those torque wrench things for jars.
Itβs like a circle with rubber parts in it to catch the lid and then itβs got a handle coming off it.

Na those bottles are pretty damn hardy. It's just like a canning jars forming a vacuum except media bottles are made of good glass. I wouldn't be scared to risk it at all but I'm a bit of a dumb ass I'd understand if you don't like the idea op lmao.

I like the filter wrench, if you ever get a lid you cant get open on anything really they work great. My ex gf used to steal mine out of my toolbox to get jelly and other jar lids off. https://www.amazon.com/Craftsman-Piece-Rubber-Wrench-9-45570/dp/B00K92810A/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=oil+filter+wrench&qid=1590346880&sr=8-13

Those rubber strap wrenches work miracles.

Is it a black phenolic cap? If so, you're fucked. Nah, just kidding, a pipe wrench or channellocks will work but you risk cracking the cap.

This is pretty close to what I was thinking of.
Havenβt seen one since I was a kid.
https://www.amazon.com/Kuhn-Rikon-Gripper-Opener-White/dp/B000CO256G/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?dchild=1&keywords=jar+opener&qid=1590362075&sprefix=jar+oo&sr=8-12
Basically a different version of a strap wrench made to look kitcheny.
