Habitat:
Open forest amongst grass and bracken in SW Victoria Aust.

Gills:
grey not attached

Stem:
6cm long roughly 3mm diameter white solid

Cap:
1.5-2cm diameter color golden brown , texture smooth, conical, convex.

Spore print color:
purplish black

Bruising:

Blue on stems and edge of cap

Have posted some pictures that were identified as P. sabauruginosa previosly but these are quite a different shape (much longer stem and smaller cap). Spore print is a similar colour though. Apologies for spore print quality in photos

Thank you, any idea why there is so much variation in shape? Are there subspecies of this mushroom?

Different specimens of the same species of mushrooms can have differing shapes because of changing environmental factors and slight differences in genetics.

 yes, Psilocybe subaeruginosa

possibly a subspecies, but we need to do a better genetic assessment of Psilocybe subaeruginosa in order to determine that.

most likely morphology is a response to the environment
