I'd probably call these Psilocybe subsectoides (which is not a real species)

this is probably an intermediate subspecie between Psilocybe subaeruginosa and Psilocybe weraroa

Yeah wow, thanks for that. I can't find them in 'Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World' but I did dig up a similar ID request.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23279300#23279300

Those seemed to grow very tightly packed, mine grew in a less crowded manner, and not in New Zealand. Either way, I'm guessing they're good to eat.

Thanks and cheers.

They are scary looking subs, go easy. My mate had a dose of Newie subs the other day and he said he was at about level 4. He had 1.6g dried and they blew his socks off. He is a pretty seasoned campaigner too.

Enjoy

Does P. weraroa even occur in Australia? I thought they were strictly a NZ species.

In my opinion they are just some off kilter-looking P. subaeruginosa.
