Got my blower today after work, super excited. My filter is coming on Tuesday this week, planning on getting this whole thing put together by next week. It will be really nice to work in a hood.

So my wife was telling me about little beauty fridges for like 50 bucks on Wayfair or Amazon.
To lazy to post a link, but Google Beauty Fridge. This could be a game changer for slant storage.

They are USB chargeable so you can put it in your car or truck! For beer not for slants!

I have one like that. Vintage style one. Holds 12 cans. Also came with a car adapter. It works ok. Causes a lot of condensation and doesn't get as cold as I'd like. It stops cube mycelium in it's tracks but oysters will still grow in there lmao. I had some oyster plates fruit through the parafilm I'm my mini fridge. If you look it up it's the same one alot of people use for makeup. The worker at the store I got it from said he has a worm farm and he uses the same ones to store worms. It also has a warm setting so it could probably be used to incubate germ plates or some shit.

Word from the wise. Get a bigger fridge than you think you need. I use a decently sized mini fridge and it still gets full of shit quick. You will start using it like your garage fridge. So half of it gets full of myco drinks and then you will put some orange juice or kombucha in there that you dont want clogging up your main fridge and then you have 1/3 of the space for your prints media bottles and slants.
Like just pull the trigger and get a full size because now I am considering get full size one because I got some clones that I want to pause the growth on
Edit: reference I am using this one

I dont have the space for a whole fridge. Not now anyways. Ive been looking out for one of those bitchin Marshall Amp mini fridges lol. Tryin to find one second hand for cheap. But Ive been checking craigslist for regular ones too.
I dont keep much myco stuff anymore anyways. I used to save lots of cultures, but these days, its bare bones. Id really just need room for around a dozen plates, maybe half dozen to dozen culture slants, a few half pint LC jars, and my bag o' spores and syringes...I guess that does take up some good space now that I type it up

I made these the other day, having a new go at making BRF slurry. Inoculated a dozin qt jars yesterday hoping for a 3-4 day colonization.
And then it's this baby I made 4 years ago when I first started growing and still works perfectly. I threaded the mesh with a steele wire and wrapped it around the rim of the tub. This is one of my favorite tools

That mesh topped tub for grain prep? I need to do something like that. I dont run lots of grain these days but its still a hassle using regular pasta strainers. I never bought a mesh one, so as I shake it around, I get grains flying all over the place after slipping through the holes.
Lately what Ive been doin is draining all the water out by putting the strainer over the top of the pot to keep the grain from falling out. Then Ill give it a little shaking/stirring to release some steam before dumping it out into a 66qt tub lined in a clean towel. Ill use the towel to mix it around and shake it. After about 5 minute I spread it out and let it sit a little and its all good to go.
Easier than using those stupid strainers and having to shake 3 or 4 of those full and still having to lay it out.

Yeah using a strainer can get tedious.
I let a friend store stuff in my garage and when I started doing pc runs out there I noticed a big terrarium with a mesh top about 1.5’x3’ that I started using.
I’ve got a big strainer that hook perfectly onto the five gallon bucket I soak the wbs in so I get a big scoop and let it drain into the bucket for like ten seconds then dump it onto the terrarium.
Speeds things up for sure.

I just drilled a bunch of little holes into the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket. Leave my grains overnight and they're always perfect by morning

This is my favorite method. I don't leave them overnight but bucket strainers. I've been putting on for them for years now trying to get them to catch on. Still haven't lmao.

Iv got an old entertainment stand its old and just sitting in my garage and I was thinking about tearing it apart and using the sides and top for the housing of my flowhood. Its particle board but if I paint it should be ok. Its smooth and if I can use it im going to use it to get rid of this entertainment stand thats taking up space in my garage.
