Trying to figure out what is going wrong with my BRF cake. This is using PF tek, the jars were colonized, took about 2 + weeks to cover the surface of the shoebox (which is slower than I thought), and the fruits are incredibly small and take forever to grow. Misted 3-5 times a day when surface begins to look dry, the lid is cracked open, and have a fan blowing in the room. The pins will grow very slightly, and after 2-3 days the veils will break open. They reach about a height of 1/2 inch before the veils pop. Ive tried misting less, misting more, only misting the sides, open the lid for more airflow, using light from nearby window, using desk lamp light+grow lights... I'm at a loss.
This is multispore syringe on BRF. It's been about 2 1/2 weeks since introducing pinning conditions

You're sub is probably over hydrated, maybe underhydrated if you felt the need to mist so much. I had a very similar issue of small fruits and it was definitely from an overhydrated sub though.
You shouldn't have to mist your shoebox at all unless you live somewhere extremely dry. What kind of shoebox is it? Most are designed to allow some air exchange so cracking the lid is unnecessary and dries out the surface faster, even so the substrate should have enough water to support a full flush.

This helped me dial in my shoeboxes. Also like Sock said don't fuck with it so much. If you did the cakes in a SGFC or something you'd have to give it more attention but shoeboxes and other tubs are meant to be mostly set and forget.
