Trying to get back on my feet ASAP
    #2669085 - 05/12/04 04:51 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Well, like I said in a previous post I was layed off. Actually I was layed off yesterday. Anyway, I woke up this morning and my dad calls me asking if I want to do some work and of course I said yes. So I head out to do some hardcore manual labor. It was an under the table job doing some roofing. So I get to the place and I start giving it my all, which I shouldn't have. I really should have paced myself. We were tearing a roof off, and after a while I started getting symptoms indicating I was going to have a heat stroke, so I apologized and left. Then I got home, threw up and went to sleep. It's hard trying to find good work, and once again I'm reminded why manual labor just isn't for me.

no, manual labor is fine, just don't work beyond your boundaries....
most employers will deal with that. Unless you're absopussified.

I'm afraid years of sitting in front of computers, has made me absopussified. However my dad got home a while ago and said the boss almost had a heat stroke and threw up as well.

Manual labor is great, what are talking about. So what after working for one day you got sick and threw up, go back the next day and maybe pace yourself a little better, maybe throw up again, or pass out even, over time just as you got out of shape you'll get in shape. Honestly I know manual labor isn't for everyone, my point is, just don't give up, that attitude can make you lose any job, manual labor or not, if you want something bad enough you can get it, you'll find work, just keep looking, and realize you gotta start at the bottom and work your way up. It's like marathon runners, you ever seen those people, there crazy, freaking passing out and puking and shit after running like 25 miles, and they do it cause they want to, I've seen people puke while their running and just fall over, they never quite. Alot of people complain about their physical difficulties in life, strength, looks whatever, it's all mental .
