The coloration towards the bottom just looks like bruising from drying
out.

I'm assuming you dunked for 24hrs then rolled in verm?

Spray your perlite down a bunch everyday to keep humidity at its highest.

Some light high up spraying of the cake is good too.

Did you let it consolidate for a week in the jar after it reached 100% colonization?

yes i dunked for 24 hours. yes i let it consolidate. ill try wetting the perlite.
i used gypsum with ast as an additive. i read on another post that gypsum with ast might have antifungal properties. this is my second attempted grow and got nothing from the first. i think it might be the ast gypsum. im trying a third time without the ast gypsum.

Hmm I dunno I've never tried it. But then again I've never used gypsum at
all. It's really not necessary unless you're trying to balance out the ph
of something like peat or poo.

But my advice is it looks dry. You may wanna dunk it again no reroll just
back into the fruiting chamber. Keep that perlite saturated you want that
rh at 80-99%

Nice congrats!! If the other ones don't start soon with the new regiment
Of care then give em a dunk and put em back in. Perhaps in the future I'd
use a finer grade of vermiculite to get better coverage and microclimate production.

so i finally gave up on this batch of cakes. i cut them open to see what they looked like and good god they stunk to high heaven. gonna bury them outside in the morning. on the bright side, i did a new batch without the ast gypsum and one jar filled in 2 weeks and five days. another will fill by tomorrow or the next day and the third will fill in 4-5 days. i REALLY think that ast additive in the gypsum was the culprit. the cakes in the photos took 4-6 weeks to fill in the jars. thanks for all the advice! im stoked for this next run!http:// http://
