Hi guys,
First time working with agar (BRF) and cubensis spores. What do you guys think? Ready to transfer?
I’m quite happy with things as it’s my first time although I probably made too many plates and used way too many spores per plate lol but gals that I’ve avoided contaminants....so far!
Pics uploaded I hope
PS prepared fresh agar 2/3 weeks ago and have stored in fridge. Plan to use it to pour plates to which I will transfer to. No problems here right?

I should also add that these plates were inoculated on the 2nd of May so roughly 3 weeks ago

You should have taken transfers soon after the spores germinated. I normally transfer a couple of days after they germinate. Those spore plates are way over grown but u should go ahead and take some transfers.

To add on to what SFS said, since you have so many overgrown plates, it wouldn't hurt to leave 1 or 2 of those plates out and see if they will pin. Then grab one of those pins for a clone. May not be a great set of genetics from that clone, but it'll be fun and get you an early introduction to cloning fruits.

Awesome thanks for the quick reply and I was pretty sure I’d left them too long but at the same time been pretty busy + scared to do it too early XD
Any tips on where to transfer from? I have quite clear rhyzo bits and tormentose bits. My head says that’s rhyzo would be better for the transfer for some reason. Plus is the agar that I prepared 2 weeks ago (PC already done) and stored in the fridge alright to use or would you recommend making some fresh agar?

Oh interesting, so far not done any reading around cloning fruits but I’ll follow your advice and keep a couple of the plates and monitor them. The amount of info I’ve read through over the last couple of months has left me feeling a bit frazzled and vulnerable but I guess that’s all part of the fun haha!

Since they're grown out, there probably won't be any very specific places to take from. I'd say stay away from the sides, grab something that looks clean, and it's not a huge deal whether you take something that is rhizo or tormentose. The most important thing is to look for something that is clean.
As for the plates, they'll be completely fine. In the future, don't throw them in the fridge, as that can cause any condensation to worsen. They'll be fine out in the open for a good while, as long as they are wrapped/stored correctly.

Cool, I shall be making the transfers tomorrow after I’ve thoroughly cleaned every inch of the room I do my work in.
And I’ve not poured the agar yet it’s still in the media bottle but i guess that doesn’t change your answer. Thanks for the help

Ah you haven't poured it yet? Then yeah it's good to throw that in the fridge. I was talking more about if it's already been poured into plates.
