Yeah but if he goes down the insurance route it would be immoral to not give the $500 cash back to them.

Fuck them she wanted to just give u $500 for nothing thats her fault for being dumb. I would never ever do something like that especially slamming some guy on a bike and almost killing him. I would be so scared I'd get sued or something. Thats lit why you pay for insurance. I mean the guy has a brand new infinity and likely has comprehensive insurance but prob has insane rates cuz dui or mad accidents. This deserves to go thru proper channels for the sake of everyone involved.

Always call the cops for an auto accident if it isn't a tiny parking lot bump. Always get their insurance information.
Live and learn.

His gf handed me $500 cash to not to do that.
I thought it just bent my rim and I would have it fixed in 1 day plus I was in shock and have an concussion so I accepted the $500.
A witness pulled up next to me yo give me his info in case I needed a witness because he was at fault.
I had to replace my:
rim ($110) air suspension forks ($398) tube ($30) petals ($45) crank arms ($80)
&
7 days to collect parts and do repars. I average $500-$700/week at work.
So it ended up costing me around $1,200 once you factor in parts, labor, and missed income from work.
Did you get a concussion? Not sure if you meant that or were wondering if you did or whatever.

Agreed 100%
That's what I was wondering & wanted to get y'alls perspective.
Does anyone have experience filing a police report after the accident has happened?
I have contact info for another driver who witnessed the accident and wrote down his info for me.
My new forks got delayed until Tuesday.
I had finally saved up $1,000 for my cross country tour this summer and now its all gone.
The bright side of things, I wanted to replace these parts before my tour.

I think it depends on who is at fault
Here in the Netherlands the person driving a motorrized vehicle is always responsible insurance wise when an cyclist of pedestrian is involved.
I dont know the regulations in the US
What happened exactly? Here deliverybikers are road maniacs. Was the accident 100% his fault?
I do feel that now you have accepted the money, its a bit of a dick move to file a report You made a deal and now you are trying to come back on it

That's my feelings exactly. When one makes ones bed, one should lie in it. And hey, when one is drawn in by the lure of instant, cold, hard cash, that's making ones bed.
But whado I know? This is n'murica.

Get online, get info, get it done. Good luck! Glad you're OK more or less. Don't worry about any moral dilemma with that cash, if anything it'll make the driver/gf look worse for trying to scam out. too bad you didn't call an ambulance. ALL of that would have been paid for by the insurance claim. Still worth pursuing if you want to.

How about if a woman is raped, and accepts hush money...would it be a dick move for her to change her mind, and file charges later on down the road?

Absolutely, IMO. Regardless of what one goes through, if one also accepts a bribe to stay quiet, one is implicit in the act and has no rights calling shit later.
IMO. It would be a real dick move.
But as I say, 'murica. Almighty dollar + Entitlement.
Nasty combo.

Scam out?
You dont know this. Maybe Pumpjack drove like a maniac onto a oneway street and crashed himself into that car. The owner of that car has a very costly repair as well.
If fault is to be disputed here, perhaps OP is going to end up paying for everything himself.
There are usually two sides to accidents like this, and I dont feel like we are getting full disclosure here.
At the time it seemed like a good deal to OP

Right. Assuming OP is totally guilt free just because he's part of our community is not reasonable.
Added to that, he took the money on the spot.
I'm baffled that anyone is overlooking these facts. I've been smashed off my bike a few times, and I'll tell you now it was never ENTIRELY the other persons fault.

Only in America, huh?
I suppose your response doesn't surprise me all that much, but I think there are definitely circumstances that would negate the "dick move" aspect of going back on a deal. To say otherwise is pretty shortsighted, IMO.
