U just have to make sure that the opening is sticking upwards so that water doesnt get sucked in on cooldown and ruin your grains. It should work

learned the hard way that this does not work so well with no prep grains! They all expanded during sterilization and the bags were soo tightly packed together, they ripped when pulling them out. And the ones that didn't rip seem to contaminate at high rates. No prep has been one pain in the bum after another...
Times like this i am reminded to stick to the tek!

Do you not preseal the bags? I've tried not presealing and they all contaminated. Pretty sure those 75x suck in dirty air when they cool.
Good on you on fitting that many bags. I only get 9

I dont preseal. I open it infront of my hood. Does yours not hold a vacuum? Ive left bags in there for a month once before inoculating them and they were fine.

Mine will slowly bleed off the vacuum if I leave it a few days. Course when it was brand new it could hold for a week. I probably need a new stopcock.

yeah, its the stopcock. I recently replaced all of mine, replaced the overpressure plugs, and vasalined the seals

I need to replace my plugs for sure as well. Still the unit gets to pressure no issues still. I just need to order replacements before it all comes apart.

I got a clogged vent during the cooldown cycle and it blew out the plug in massive graincano that spewed for about 20 min. I threw a beach towel over it to contain the mess a bit. I ordered double plugs for all my pcs when that happened so im stocked up. It was soooo messy!

Lelz, good point.
I'll probably use a proper trivet when I try this, seems reasonable to think that the bags could inflate between the gaps in the wire rack and cause this kind of problem.
