Like, it makes a good sensationalist MSM story.

Some people don’t hold weight unless they’re actively lifting. I can lose months of work in a matter of a few weeks. So add that to a pretty massive cut in calorie intake and you’re gonna go string bean pretty quick.

Dude there are tons of people in their 40s who end up on ventilators. Young people get very sick with covid, they are just able to survive being in a medically induced coma with a ventilator breathing for them better than older people.
I've been looking at the critical case load specifically from the beginning. Its always hovered around 5% has that changed since I stopped giving a fuck?

Lol 6% of confirmed cases have died, so that is obviously wrong.
Where are you getting the critical case load data? That is not reliably reported data. Some places report it others do not. From what I’ve seen between 20-25% of confirmed cases get hospitalized.

Thats hospitalized I'm talking about critical even that number seems extremely high. Ur saying about a quarter people who contract covid need hospitalization? No way bro guy. Maybe big MAYBE a third of symptomatic people. And a very significantly small portion of those are critical. Get real koodies

Another thing I was thinking what if our whole understanding of this shit is wrong. What if wayyy more people are getting seasonal viruses than we think were just not doing comprehensive testing. Maybe that's why these things tend to move thru populations and seem to come and go more or less strongly rather mysteriously. Thats just a thought I had the other day. Like maybe this will expose some huge gap in our understanding

26.3% of cases in NYC have required hospitalization
https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page
Currently in NY state there are 6220 people in hospital, 2077 in ICU.
That would mean approximately 8.75% critical care rate.
Consider however that in NYC about 20% of deaths occur outside of a hospital. These are people who would likely have required critical care if they had been hospitalized.

Yeah about 20% of symptomatics require hospitalization.
Why does this surprise you? Covid is an extremely serious and dangerous disease. Five times as many people as normal have died in NYC in the past two months. 100,000 extra deaths occurred in the US in the month of April. Covid is currently the leading cause of death in the US.

We don't know how many symptomatic people we have around. We mostly know about the hospitalization as that's when people end up getting tested nowadays.

I think New York is getting most of their symptomatics. Their positive testing rate is down to 4%

Im still sticking with my original guess of 0.6% cfr. That estimate was based on random surveying in south korea using pcr tests and not antibody tests.
People who think that number isnt bad just dont know anything about respiratory infections or math, though
In any case i still suspect that it will turn out to be the case that, just like with flu, some strains are more virulent than others and generalizations about things like cfr for covid19 in general will not prove to be especially useful once that strain data is understood.

I haven't looked at the data in a couple of weeks due to being super busy/exhausted but at that time I noticed that some of the hardest hit spots (NY, UK, Italy) were tracking a lot of A clade strains. The west coast(among others) was tracking many more B clade strains. No idea if that has held up but it also seemed like A1 clade was giving rise to the greatest number of new strains by a large margin.

I went out yesterday into dystopia land and was impressed with how the stores have all made signs, designated areas, plenty of antibacterial soap/wipes. And all of the employees and shoppers were wearing masks. Its weird seeing so many places closed yet so many people on the road. In my area its like a 50/50 of people following guidelines vs not. I still see groups of people walking the street like nothing is happening, 0 social distancing but at least when I'm out getting groceries and running errands, people inside the places I've gone to are following the guidelines.

Almost half of Twitter accounts sharing coronavirus tweets are likely bots, according to Carnegie Mellon University research released Wednesday.
The university’s researchers scoured through more than 200 million tweets talking about coronavirus or COVID-19 since January and concluded nearly 45 percent of the accounts behaved like robots instead of humans, NPR reported...
...More than 100 inaccurate COVID-19 narratives were found, including those about potential cures, but the likely bots are involved in discussions about reopening and ending stay-at-home orders. Some of the accounts tweet about conspiracy theories, like hospitals being filled with mannequins or the coronavirus spreading through 5G wireless towers, which are both untrue.
But researchers said it was too early to determine what individuals and groups were behind the likely bots, but the tweets seem to instigate division in the U.S.
"We do know that it looks like it's a propaganda machine, and it definitely matches the Russian and Chinese playbooks, but it would take a tremendous amount of resources to substantiate that," Carley said... https://thehill.com/policy/technology/498915-almost-half-of-accounts-sharing-coronavirus-tweets-likely-bots-researchers
More likely the work of Brad Parscale.
