Welcome to the Shroomery
Nice finds......
I did some hunting yesterday during the day and also late at night whilst walking home. I found that many new patches it was incredible. My phone ended up going flat so I couldn't take photos but I will take lots of photos over the next few days and I plan to make the photos as good as possible......
It's so good we got rain late yesterday. We really needed it....... I can imagine subs being incredibly prevalent in 4 - 5 days.....
Happy hunting everyone

I've noticed slightly darker caps this week, I'm guessing from the sunshine we've had. Went for a walk this morning and found some growing in areas obviously foraged through today - they were just outside the foraging sites right on the edge of the path. Plenty of bluing and in areas where I've found plenty of good shrooms the same colour (darker than normal but positively ID'd on these forums, & sampled successfully by me over the weekend).
I guess some people get so hung up on looking through the scrub that they miss what's on the path they're walking down. I'm sure that's a metaphor for life!

Some patches starting to fruit like crazy after last nights rain, around the south eastern suburbs;
Please excuse all the blurry shots, so many pedestrians about.

Awesome photos samemould and nickoloxious. Yeah we found it to be the same, so many fresh pretty pins popping up everywhere!
In other news, the award for the largest sub I've found this season goes to this guy the gf and I came across this afternoon...

Weighing in at just shy of 25g wet with the cap diameter measuring 8cm. Pretty sure it's the largest I've found. What's the biggest sub you've all found?

Love the look of these wavy caps! Picked around 1.5kg of fresh subs over the weekend, this season is proving to be a bumper already

Howdy OK so I have to admit that I was wrong about how hard it is to find subs. I had a 'tour guide' help me with identifying subs. Now I know more about how to find and identify them better.
Pics are great, but to understand the texture, feel, smell etc helped immensely. So many species look similar, it's easy to get it wrong, but the guided tour was a massive help.
The community here has been awesome, I've had lots of people reach out to me with info and assistance with identification, info, etc
I will now go and eat my slice of humble pie ;-)

Picture this: You're finally home after a big day. A little puffed-out from the ride home, with some endorphins flowin'. You put a big pot of rice on cause you cbf cooking anything complicated and you're hungry af. Hot rice with some garlic brocolli and that msg-laden chilli sauce that makes any dish better. You sit at the table and dust off a modest haul of subs from your small, but consistent little patches. The dehydrator is on, you have a big mouthful of hot rice, there's rain pounding against the roof outside and you know the mushies are loving every millilitre. You're imagining the beautiful, blooming patches you'll check out tomorrow. In your world, everything is just about perfect for a moment.

Hey fam,
noticed someone raiding a spot I extensively spored last year and this was the first time it yielded ever so that is good to see. However, they took every single small pin and turned up all the mycelium. Northern suburbs - I hope they are a bit more thoughtful in future.
Happy hunting and I hope you are all healthy and well

Did you just use spores? Thats awesome that it worked, I've read a lot of different things about it's effectiveness. I'm trying some mushrooms slurries this season

Anyone of you ballzy folks raid woodchip gardens around suburban train stations?
Just walked past a ripper patch right near the entrance ramp to the station.
My inner criminal says yes but my outer status as professional with mandatory reporting of offences says... maybe...

One reason for being there is "my daughter/neice and I were here looking for bugs the other day and she lost her necklace"

Any reasonable excuse - other than I'm picking mushies ;-)

Found a few beautiful specimens today. It's amazing the difference in areas that are regularly foraged vs the untouched areas. I almost felt bad harvesting in the untouched areas!

My sub finds so far this season, all SE Suburbs of Melbourne.

Looks like the council sprayed these, not sure if intentional or not, but they've essentially fucked up a patch
