I don’t expect other people to buy me a second home and give a shit about it. That’s selfish as fuck.

You pay rent you’re paying for some or all of your landlord’s mortgage. I don’t give a fuck if his income dries up because I skip rent. He’s buying a house. I’m not.

Everyone expects their property to increase in value. Everyone expects rentals to make money. Get a free house and make an income. Idgaf if your investment fails. At the end of the lease the renter just has air. The landlord still has a house. So fucking what if he has to put money in it and fix shit?

Landlord: Boohoo. I had to work and lost money.

Yeah bitch I worked for that rent money too.

That has to be the most nonsensical and antisocial shit I've read in quite some time.
That cant be explained by anything other than bitter jealousy.

You dont believe in being fair to people who do stuff for you? Get treatment, nobody of real worth wants to be around those kinda people, it's the definition of sociopathic.

Yes, I gave a single woman a good home that was completely remodeled inside and out to be very energy efficient, safe, and low maintenance and she destroyed it. Kitchen has to be gutted, walls are fucked, and the entire home needs new flooring. After 2 years. Probably $20k in damages.

gave? as in, its no longer in your possession? i think not. no offense, but you didnt give anything. that woman gave you money to use your property. you didnt give her anything but the benefit of doubt and it came back to bite you in the ass.

that woman destroyed your home, okay, but she also earned the right to use your property by giving you money that belonged to her.

if you charged rent or something you can't say you "gave"

you enabled her to have a home...she fucked iwth it...seems like inevitability of being a landlord sometimes

Preface: yes, per our contractual agreement I gave up my rights to possess the home. I cannot enter her home without cause nor can I just kick her out. She now has a legally vested interest in that home.

1) she didn’t give any money for the rights to possess the home. Our tax money did, for which she is abusing the system as she has a contractual agreement to maintain and upkeep the property. She is in violation of not just my lease agreement but her agreement with section 8 who pays 100% of her rent. She quits her job each time she comes up for section 8 renewal. She’s 100% abusing the system because she doesn’t want to work.

2) Gave: Verb; cause or allow (someone or something) to have (something, especially something abstract); provide or supply with.

"you gave me such a fright"

When you give someone fright do they now own fright? Are they terrified for the rest of their lives? No.
Furthermore, one of the definitions of ‘gave’ is to provide or supply with, so again... yes, I gave (or provided) a safe and secure home for this tenant.

Am I complaining? Absolutely not. I’m simply making a statement. I’m taking her to court, placing a judgement against her for $9,999.99 which is the maximum under small claims court and then taking that paperwork to section 8 to prevent her from ever being allowed section 8 again.

There are more deserving people who truly need and would appreciate the fact they have their rent subsidized. And too many landlords out there truly are slumlords. I spent $40k remodeling the home before she took possession (or gave her the right to possess) my home.

This is all apart of the game and shame on me for misjudging her character. Big whoop.

Don’t feel bad for landlords who make money off other people’s inability or unwillingness to buy a home, but as long as there are people who don’t want to, or are unable to, purchase their own home, there will be a necessity for landlords.

But on the flip side, don’t shame landlords when there are people who need housing.

Supply and demand. Remove the demand and I wouldn’t be a landlord.

well that explains everything. you chose to use section 8 to guarantee yourself income from the federal housing department. you didnt care much about the tenant so stop pretending you had. no one is shaming you for being a landlord. you are being shamed for saying you gave someone a house to live in.

"you gave me a fright" is not the same as "you gave me a house" but nice try at giving us a vocabulary lesson.

and lastly, you didnt provide anyone with a home to live in. you are in it for the money, not humility.

My point in referencing an emotion is that just because you ‘give’ someone something doesn’t mean you physically have to give them a tangible item to keep forever to ‘give’ someone something. —and yes, that’s one of the definitions of give.

So, let’s go back to the definition again...

2) Gave: Verb; cause or allow...; provide or supply with.

I (the Landlord) provided or supplied a home for someone. a.k.a. I gave (reference above) a home to my tenant in return for her to maintain and take care of the property. I held up my end she didn’t hold up her end. When a tenant signs a legally binding lease agreement they are taking possession of that property. It is now their home with legal protections for the tenant -even though they don’t own the property. While I still own it on paper, it is their home to use as they see fit as long as they don’t violate the lease agreement. I cannot just walk in whenever I want because it is her home while she has contractually accepted to take possession from me.

It’s not that hard to understand.

My rental is paid in full so luckily I just get to keep all the profit for my Scrooge McDuffie self.

Have you ever been to your local section 8 department?

Mine is full of pamphlets geared towards landlords trying to entice them into putting their homes into the program because the need for safe subsidized housing is there. It’s sad people can’t afford to buy their own home. I’m more than happy to pay every penny I pay in taxes because I know my taxes help build a community which allows me to better myself and others. Through better schools, roads, utilities, and yes, by funding section 8 which allows those who are in dire need to receive a hand up to get on their feet.

My properties have to be inspected once a year by a section 8 person to ensure its safe, sanitary, and structurally sound for the section 8 tenant. I have not once been given a notice to repair anything because I am proactive and care for my tenants... but judge away since all landlords must be pieces of shit.

I’m not Jared Kushner. I have a heart.

I disagree with this but I do agree homelessness is a huge problem for such an industrialized nation as the United States.

We should have better social safety nets like the EU. We should have free healthcare. We should have free higher education. When the nation is healthier and better educated then we will all thrive and make more money which means we will pay more taxes (from higher incomes) which in turn funds the social safety nets to help the less fortunate... and hopefully could end homelessness.

And I could sell my property, throw all the cash in the stock market and I’d probably just be a savvy investors or a normal American joe... but I buy a property that had a roof caved in in the kitchen, was completely vandalized, appliances and copper all stolen out of it, and mold growing everywhere, and I completely gut it to the studs and rebuild it. Make it extremely energy efficient with spray foam, double pane windows, completely new kitchen and bathroom, and a $20k AC unit that keeps the heating/cooling bill around $40 a month and rent it to low income people and I’m a ‘welfare cheat’.....

The tenant has lived in the home for less than 3 years and in the last year she has caused probably $20k in estimated damages but I should be expected to simply repair all of her damages and keep her in it?

She violated her contract with section 8 and violate my lease agreement. I’m seeking recovery for about half of the damages she has caused and asking her to leave at the end of the month... not being a dick about it. It’s life. You vandalize property you’ll probably get in trouble.

no one cares how much money you spend. stop whining. you invested time and money into a dump, fixed it up to turn a profit and didnt. you, as the landlord, have every right to enter the rental at any time with notice. the house did not belong to her, it belongs to you. such is why you now have the luxury of re-repairing a busted up house.

Lol, I love the part where the landlord was FORCED in to this situation because of a 200k Euro savings.

What a terrible burden. Life must be super rough.
