Rye berries growth
    #26684302 - 05/20/20 09:00 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Im sure you guys get this often, but you guys think that I should mix this yet to get it to move more towards the rest of bag?
It's a 5lb rye bag with 10cc GT and am at day 10 in a sealed tub hovering around 78°-80°

Once I am fully colonized, I plan to mix into a bulk mono tub (with a 2"/3"layer of perlite and a aluminum foil barrier) without holes.

I have done all my research and know that it will need light and fanned 2-3 times a day.

I planned to do what I read. 1" layer of sub, then thin layer of grain and so forth  until my 10lbs of sub is used up

Unfortunately my first attempt got what I can only guess, wet spots. How disappointing. Spent over 3 weeks before that happened ☹️ it was when I figured, screw those all in one bags!! I believe that was part of the reason. Was getting more growth on the sub.

Anyways, sorry for the rant.lol lmk if everything sounds and looks good so far.

Stay Safe all!

I don’t run bags but it looks far enough along to mix up.

Dont need any perlite or foil.  Look up the current teks on monotubs with micro pore tape or unmodified tubs.  Bag looks good, but I'd lower those temps down to at least 75F.  80F is probably ok but you are flirting with making bacteria pretty happy.

Ok thanks. Even with putting direct in the tub (no holes for fanning) it would be ok without the perlite And barrier?

So what, just make sure that I keep it sprayed (not dri

There's still a lot of uncolonized grains. If you're going to be fruiting
them as blocks, I'd say no they're not ready yet. Plus like a cake once
they reach 100% colonization they need some time to consolidate, like a
week or so. If not they'll be consolidating as they're drying out loosing
precious moisture before they start fruiting.

Thanks for the response bro!

Yeah, I planned to do a mono with a  couple inch bottom layer of  Perlite, then a foil barrier. Then the 1" substrate followed by a thin layer of colonized grain, then repeat until I reach about 3" or so

Right on. Im learning a little more on each stage and each diff. Way of doing it. I have found out on the first try that the all in one bags Suk!!

The mono, bulk is the only way to go 😁

I can’t tell from the pics but it might be too wet.

Is that a sub wrapped in foil in a tub of perlite?
