Teichoderma contaminant in house
    #26683357 - 05/20/20 01:22 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

So i har this sneaky jar with Trich in it. But the thing is. The Trich wasnt visible. It was fucking hiding between the 100% colonized myc and the verm layer. Kinda just chilling in the middle of it. So ofcourse when i went to remove the verm layer i ended up touching that green hellspawn. Shit i prolly got alot of it in my sink too. I immediatly took the jar outside and tossed it. Threw the old clothes in the washer, took a shower and Washed out my kitchen and went over it with 70% alcohol..

Im not concerned about future growths as im moving in July anyway. But is it safe to birth, dunk and roll in there or am i fucked? Still got 4 jars left and 6 that i dunked earlier. Got no faucet anywhere else in the house..

Is it even safe for me to get close to my FC now?

Help please

You're fine just produce clean spawn and you'll be good. Trich spores are unavoidable anyway. Definitely try not crop dust your tubs with em, but opening a nasty jar over your sink and throwing it away isn't a problem

Thanks. Got really worried there for a minute. Will prolly wash over the kitchen one more time before i attempt to birth more cakes in there tho.

But 100% colonized and consolidated myc should be pretty resistant to contams yes?

Luckily i didnt open the shit in my growing area.

It's weird tho. Looked like the Trich were in hibernation or something. As it only seemed to be in the verm layer. Not in the actual cake wich looked healthy. It even smelled like it should (mushroomy smell)
