Hello everyone! a little background first, I've been lurking here for years but haven't had the chance to really get to involved. I've had two somewhat successful grows in the past using brf/shotgun teks. about two months ago i decided i was tired of "trying" brf jars and using MS syinges/honey LC's because i clearly was doing something wrong, so I'm learning grains with WBS and agar using quart jars now.
anyway... lol
i have one half pint BRF jar left from the last time i attempted to inoculate that didnt get contaminated.
i dont want to set up the shotgun just to fruit one single jar. any ideas what i could/should do with it?
also it does has some kind of "other" growth hanging out with the mycelium. any ideas on what it could be, the mycelium seems to be growing over it or taking it over.
Thanks in advance.

You could use it as spawn and make a shoebox. I use mushboy's write up, it's the bomb.

Doesn't look great. I wouldn't spawn that to bulk.

Top fruit for sure. That thing is sketchy as fuck.
Plus as much as I love them a half pint isn’t enough for a shoebox.

Another way to look at it, with shredding or slurry a half pint can noc a lot of grain jars. Many sets of tubs have come from a single half pint cake. OP, if you have space and materials and interest, there is almost no limit.

Yeah but you wouldn’t want to expand a contaminated jar.

Why set yourself up for failure? A clean BRF jar will work fine in bulk, but a visibly contaminated jar is going to more than likely be a waste of time and resources.

All that growth on the left is mold. That's why it looks all grainy up close. It's not yeally good for anything, you could bury it outside maybe.
