First Grow - Status check

First time grower here. Didn’t do anything DIY, but didn’t notice any issues throughout. Starting to wonder if I can expect this to flush out the way we all hope for. Sub is horse manure/coco coir mix (I think there is gypsum as well.) I used two rye berry grain bags (one B+ on GT) expanded to tub. Smell seems fine, and pleasant. Nothing has really changed with the smell either, so I’m hoping that means nothing new has invaded. I didn’t know what to expect using different spawn for one tub, but I also know that a cube is a cube and will grow virtually the same. Is this true? I’ve been fairly adamant on sterilization and maintaining a clean environment. Starting noticing some knotting, and these small clusters of (I’m hoping mycelium) have been around for 4 days and no discoloration yet. Does it take longer for contains to release spores? Any input appreciated! Pictures here are spanned over the course of about a week. It has been 10 days since spawning this tub.

I can see a lot of exposed grain, now this isn't a HUGE problem as i've done this before. however I would recommend adding a casing layer before it fruits out just to help keep your substrate moist. If not they look alright, you should be fine. Mold will infest and spore pretty quickly imo. after 4-6 days you will see sporulation. Sometimes even sooner.

Awesome! Thank you so much. IT would probably take a few days to find appropriate materials to provide a casing layer. Does keeping wax paper or perforated foil work as well?

uh no a casing layer needs to be just that, a layer that cases the myc and allows it to grow through it. Like coco coir/verm. just keep doing what you're doing if you can't do a casing layer. A casing layer is like the dunk and roll for a PF cake, just over the top of your myc instead of all around it.

Added a casing layer about a week ago and I've now got a pretty crazy pinset covering the whole surface. Lots of clusters and the coverage of the surface is crazy. For my first grow I really couldn't be happier. Thanks for your help.
