The cap is a sort of golden orange the stem and the gills look yellow. And there also appears to be a yellow veil.  In a spot under an oak tree where ai usually only see Russula or amanita.  Doesn’t look like what I usually find here and I wonder what it is.  Only had a pic under the gills to see the color.  There are white circles on the cap.  2 and 1/2 or 3 inches tall. Gulf coast, USA

I can uproot this one, but I just wanted to post a couple more pictures first. Since this is right outside of my room anyway I noticed it does look like an Amanita. Now that it has mature I can see veil remnants on the cap. Also noticed the gills are white and the stem isn’t very yellow.  The cap is yellow orange with white remnants .  Just wanted to let you see before I pull out the whole root

Looks Similar To Amanita Jacksonii, If So, It Should Have A Whitish Volva Sack At The Bottom Of The Stipe When You Dig It Up.

Any chance these are active?  Amanita flavoconia is labeled as not recommended

Depends On What You Mean By Active. Do They Contain Psilocybin/Psilocin? No

Do They Contain Ibotenic Acid & Muscimol? I Don't Know.
