Uhuh.
70% for herd immunity.
IFR 1.16% (Spanish data)
About 50-60 million dead worldwide.
OR
as much as the Spanish Flu
OR
as much s a World War
"Relatively mild disease"

Bariticinib is seeing increased use
Right various pharms used for pts here include remdesivir, iv vitamin C, oral zinc, oral vit D, tocilizumab and or bariticinib, methylprednisolone, tylenol, albuterol, ipratropium, cimetidine. The first 3 for the virus itself the rest for reducing mortality from complications

In Germany they found that IFR was around 0.3% There's no point in hiding. Lockdowns are not sustainable, the virus will not disappear by miracle. This virus is harmless to healthy people.

I personally know 5 young (29-35) and healthy "essential workers" that were floored for 3-8+ weeks each. 2 have lasting lung damage that may or may not be permanent.
I'm not sure the current numbers, but last month 20-35% of hospitilizations in my state were people 20-40, very many with no known co-morbidities.

That German study was an older study - and iirc, it used antibody tests that were less accurate. And I believe the death count is probably a little undercounted.
More and more I'm seeing a whole bunch of separate studies starting to hone in on 1.1-1.4%
My grandma is still kicking ass. No fever since that very first day. Her cough has gone away. She is on melatonin, zinc, and an antibiotic - I believe she's been getting vitamin D supplementation for ages now, thankfully. Doctor says with most people 5-7 days is around where they can deteriorate. We are currently on day 4 of symptoms. I've heard for some people it's more like days 9-11. But fingers are crossed. I don't want to derail the thread too much with my own personal shit, and I am going to avoid updating unless anything changes significantly - but I know a lot of people are concerned for themselves and their loved ones, and I hope it helps some people to see what going through this is like for an old person with COPD, congestive heart failure, and kidney failure. It is really scary, but it's not an automatic death sentence. And education is empowerment.

This “relatively mild disease” is the leading cause of death in many countries around the world including the US

Not the best study because not that many people tested. Also check what Johan Giesecke says about how many people are actually asymptomatic. For majority of people this virus will not be a problem. Ofc you cannot say it about every single person. There are many genetic dead ends among young people who will probably get seriously ill. If you feel unsafe, stay home, but let normal people live.

Given the acidity the last thing you want is people DIY-ing IV ascorbic acid.
My guess is they give it as a buffered IV drip?

Lol it’s not .3
.3% of NYC’s entire population has died of covid. Are you saying the entire population of NYC has been infected? And remember NYC has a far healthier population than almost anywhere in the country

The problem is that it will still collapse our hospital systems(which will then begin to effect 'normal people' as you so call them), if everyone gets sick at once, we might see more supply chain disruptions.
There is a happy medium here that's necessary to find, and it's not only just about the number of deaths and illnesses, but how fast they happen and how we can sustainably take care of our sick and our ill.

But that's just it...."let normal people live" doesn't work when we have to protect the elderly and immunocompromised.
You want to live. You go to a bar. You catch the virus, but you don't show symptoms for a while. Meanwhile, you go visit your mom or grandma. Maybe you visit a sibling who has lupus and isn't telling the family. Now they catch it. You may be fine, but those folks may have a harder time fighting it off.
Now, you go to work and there's people there who have health issues. So you spread it around to coworkers who bring it home to their families.
You're one of those "If it isn't happening to me, I refuse to believe it's a thing" kind of people.

Koods, you're probaly mistaking New York city with New York state I agree that we should not have mass events, elderly should be protected and people should try to distance a little bit. But most countries are exaggerating. Yes, sitting home and hoping for a miracle is the best option, right?

Unless this study is truly a random sample (not enrolling volunteers) and the results are laboratory confirmed, the data is close to worthless
