is there any disadvantage to using a handheld butane torch to sterilize needle tips?

I used an alcohol lamp for a long time and realized I move much quicker and more efficiently if I use a handheld torch-lighter.  I also dread the whole procedure less because I am not afraid of a fire.

I use a hexane torch lighter to flame needles and my X-acto Knife before cutting agar or cloning fruit bodies. Hasn't ever failed me, just make sure the metal becomes red-hot.

I hate alcohol lamps. They take too long. I use a propane torch and I also have a lil butane hand torch if I’m only sterilizing my inoculation loop. It takes too long for the scalpel to get red hot with the small torch.

Thank you very much guys!  I feel better about using my butane hand-torch now.

Yeah, I'm using propane bunsen burner. Alcohol lamps made out of glass are sketching me out.
