the only psx emulator in the repo is pcsxr and it didnt work on my laptop, I thought because my thinkpad has no video card so I tried to hook it up to my desktop but it crashed there too, so I found out the game is on steam, but its only available for download on windows it says, so im afraid to pay the $17 and cant play it on GNU/Linux, theres another emulator but it looked complacted to download off github, ill have to wait till im sober, I just want to play the game beforee I drop $500 to play the remake on the ps4

Are you sure there aren't more Playstation emulators? I did a Google search about a week ago because I wanted to play Wild Arms and saw a list of at least 3-5

Try pSX
here's some text from it's text readme file;
pSX readme -=-=-=-=-=
Introduction ============
pSX emulates the Sony Playstation 1, pretty much everything is emulated (to my knowledge) and most games run perfectly. It runs under Windows and Linux.
One thing that should be noted is that pSX DOES NOT use plugins. The emulator is completely self contained.
The emulator has been designed to be as easy and unobtrusive to use as possible - in most cases you will not need to configure anything to use it (except maybe the controls).
============
Hope that helps

So it's for the psx?, not the ps1?
I've never heard of a PSX
