Fruiting * 1
    #26675873 - 05/16/20 11:10 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

First time growing any kind of mushroom. I decided to go with the b+. Been pretty straight forward so far. After poking around on here I see that I need to put some holes on all six sides? Can someone show me some pics of what that looks like. Also anything thing else you can point out would be great.

Wayyy Too Much Tin Foil, The Foil Should Only Be Big Enough To Keep Each Cake From Touching The Perlite.

As In A Foil Circle For Each Cake, The Size Of The Bottom Of The Cake.

SGFC's Require 1/4 Inch Holes, 2 By 2 Inches Apart, On All 6 Sides Of The Tub.

so, when you say on all six sides, you mean the bottom too? if so, with the perlite being a little damp should i have something underneath to catch any water?
also, you mean to have the holes in a grid pattern? an example could be like swiss cheese?

Thanks for all the speedy replies! This flush is pretty much over in the next couple days. When I go to re-dunk I’ll drill the holes I need and hopefully my next flush does a lot better.

If it works, I wouldn't change a thing. It doesn't make sense to change things that work.

Yep, It Works, But Would Work Alot Better Without All That Foil.

I do agree that it’s working, but I would like to see them in the best environment as possible.
I noticed after taking the foil out- leaving just enough for the cakes- that some of the perlite chunks are beginning to turn pink. Is that something I should address? I’m thinking about changing the perlite when I re-dunk and drill my holes.

It's possibly Serratia marcescens. You could bleach the Perlite with diluted bleach.
