PC questions
    #26676273 - 05/17/20 05:23 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Just got one.

So its about 10psi. It has a toggle on it. I tried it once, it releases pressure right?

Basically you have to let it go to a boiling point and wait until the other top hole starts releasing steam. When can I relieve the pressure inside with the toggle?

You start with the valve open and let it boil for 10 minutes. Then you close it and do your PC cycle. You don't release any pressure afterwards, you let it cool on its own.

So there are only 2 openings: one is a hole which whistles as it boils and the other is just a toggle: if you move it when boiling then it releases pressure I think. Its always closed, unless you release it.

What I did was let it boil, then just turn it midway down so it keeps boiling and never release the pressure as the toggle valve seems to release it by itself. I assume there is a safety in place where it moves to the release position once the pressure has built too much.

Usually, you can lock the toggle in an open position. Otherwise, just put something under it to keep it in an open position.

It seems to release by itself once there is too much pressure. I guess thats good? Meaning it has reached maximum pressure.

No, you need to let it vent for 10 minutes before you let it build up pressure on its own for sterilization.

When you put your PC on a stove, there's air inside. You want to get it replaced with steam as much as possible before you let it build the pressure up.
