New Guy (Ovoid? Caerulipes?)
    #26675615 - 05/16/20 07:56 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Total new guy, just started gathering, mild internet research on what I’m looking for.

Found these 5/16/20 in KY in old wood debris along an overflow area of stream. Located in Ohio River Valley high humidity after a full day of rain. Edges of cap turned dark (blue/green) fairly quickly after picking and exposed to air. Pinch test on cap looks like bruise to human skin ( turns more translucent initially before turning blue/black). Utilized dehydrator to dry (the blue was very apparent after drying). Cap diameter 2.5 cm- 5.5cm (old large mushrooms more black/wilted and not utilized). Stipes 4cm-8cm. “Wavy cap” observed while fruiting/drying on table. White/blue when dried with dehydrator. I was searching habitat in hopes of Psilocybe Ovoid or Caerulipes.

Next, searched a similar habitat along a different stream and found what appeared to be same species. Found a few clusters 2-3 mushrooms. I will post those pictures separately at a later date.

P. Caerulipes Flesh Is Very Thin, Usually Having Translucent Striates Around The Edge Of The Caps & Have A Greenish Tint Overall, Bruising Blueish At The Base Of The Stipes. This Is Why They Are Called "Bluefoots".
