Dude, yes. I love this shit. V A P O R A L L D A Y. I grew up near the biggest mall on the North Shore of Boston. I was very, very spoiled growing up to have that.

They do! There's actually one in the still-functional, always busy mall about 20 minutes from me. I got one last time I was there! I walked around sipping it for M A X 1 9 9 2 V I B E S .

Oh man, I wish. All of the malls in my area that I remember being like that modernized in the early 2000s, which is a shame because they look very plain and sad compared to how they used to be.

I've been to these malls in Florida when I was as a kid. Used to drive like 1.5 hrs to them for some reason, never bought anything more than a band poster or CD. Once bought a ninja sword.
I remember seeing the cooler goth kids seeming more badass than I, that some how they had it figured out or knew something I didn't. That was way before I ever tried any drug or anything, like prehistoric times. Shits so different now than it was back then. I'll probably never step foot in a mall or anything like it again for the rest to my life

Anyone else feel like malls, in general, "peaked" in 2003? Obviously they were their hottest in the 80's and 90's, but the early 2000's malls were still places to shop vs online.
After that it seems like social media took over and everything went into a tailspin. It's like from 2004 onward, everything just got sterile, bland, digital, and impersonal.
Remember getting stoked to pick up a newly released album or movie? You HAD to get it at the mall, and you HAD to wait to get home and put it on to enjoy it. That level of excitement is completely lost now IMHO.

I remember waiting in line with friends at the EB Games for the new Gameboy color release with Pokémon yellow.
Browsing the music CD store was awesome too. It was either buy CD or try find the shit to priate from Kazaa or LimeWire

Could somebody please culture me? What in the fuck is a "vaporwave mall?" I thought vaporwave was some genre of music, like synthwave?
I grew up in Los Angeles, and I now reside in Cleveland. I've never seen nor heard of such a mall.

I think the idea is a mall styled like it was the 80s or early 90s, with a lot of neon etc.

Yeah I'm not convinced vaporwave malls are a thing per se. Vaporwave music is a modern category of music that sounds like it was made in the 80s but wasn't. But there was no music or aesthetic called vaporwave back at that time I'm pretty sure.

Are there really malls that look like this today? Or did you have to go them in the 80s?
I've been to malls in Los Angeles during the 90s. Not sure if I recall any of them looking like this, but I was really young, so who knows...
I've also been to some old malls around Cleveland that look like they haven't been updated since their opening, but they're very cookie cutter and boring.

I miss the arcade(s). The original arcade at the mall before they moved to a different spot was awesome. Then it was still awesome even when they moved. Then they completely shut down in the early to mid 2000s
