We need the collective societies to wake up first. I'm terrified by how quickly and readily everyone looks to their governments for guidance like it's Jesus with all the answers. Government should work for us not the other way around. We need to take back our lives and freedoms with simple revolt to start.

All we were ever supposed to do is take really good care of ourselves and our families.
I don't think most people get that part and suffer at the slightest hiccup in protocols or supply lines as a result.
Land owners with means of producing their own food barely even notice times like these.
The fewer dependent people, the less impact and hold any system will have over its people.

If each individual part of a whole is taken care of through their own efforts and personal responsibility, there's no part left in the cold.
And taking care of the planet is part of personal responsibility. So if every part was doing its best for itself, family, and local community, all aspects are covered.
But some people think they know what is best for other people, forgetting to make sure their own life is in a total state of order first.

Revolts don't work though, the same things usually end up happening all over again. The system SHOULD work for the masses, but the problems come when the rules get bent around too much to the point that they are useless.
A revolution won't change anything unless human nature changes first. It's been our problem since we first appeared, violence, destruction, short sightedness. We didn't evolve for a global society.

Terrible advice. If one is self sufficient then there isn't a reason to care about others. You're also forgetting the total global population makes this impossible advice to follow. One of the reasons we have relative peace is because we depend on each other through separation of roles. It's also ironic that it's because of "the system" that you have the luxury to proclaim such things, post on the internet, etc.
Again, given the current global population this advice would fall flat on it's face, it simply won't work. Not to mention that some areas aren't really inhabitable without some technology and some are just dead and gone. People really should study sociology and psychology before making such comments.

Whats good about that post is that at the end #8, still giving a damn fuck to care and to teach despite of achieving self-sustainability. It a really genuine thing, withouth expecting someting in return, Its rare nowadays, specially in a precondition society, eg. Sometimes people are measured and looked upon based on the degree of their schools & education - attainment etc.. always excpecting for a big profit or something return is one of the driving force of a failing system, add to that a society driven by #1 (overwhelming materialistic desires).
I kinda agree on two points, human nature must change first and thats the real revolution, and also agree its hard to achieve self-sustainability eg. interms of geographics in my 3 years of practice, add to that burden a faulty system and our unsustainable ways (Eg. Food consumption and production for a long century). in my view aiming for self-sustainability is very different from aiming for self-reliance

Couldn't have said it better myself Pacmanbreed; you get it.
It won't be an overnight process, but the more people that escape debt and achieve independence the more people they can help to do the same; this creates an exponential process; from their those communities can focus on trades that they are personally drawn to and thus high-quality work/goods can be created and traded; which I believe will begin a new golden age / renaissance period.
As such a period develops and blossoms it will allow for the spread of the self-sufficient lifestyle; eventually it will reach the rest of the world. As technology improves it will become easier and easier produce power and to grow food. If humanity chooses it could be an exponential growth process that would end in a global community that is independent yet communal; a global community held together by choice and love not fear and force.
Then will we be welcomed into the Galactic Federation and get to explore the far reaches of space and all the wonders and adventures it holds.
