My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Pema Chodrin's new book "When Things Fall Apart" is a mess of a collection of previously unpublished talks but still inspiringly resonates well with the ubiquitous feeling of groundlessness that we all share at this corona virus lockdown and recovery time.
groundlessness is great, it is the same, she explains as emptiness(true to some extent), and to voidness. Facing groundlessness gently rather than turning away, attempting to edit history, or running away from the empty feeling, is a great way to hone bodicitta or something to that effect.
I think she used the phrase "making space for the groundlessness", which really did seem to fit the whole idea.
I liked the book, for it's focus on groundlessness, but I don't love the way she dips into the use of terms like "absolute" in particular which is intellectually too aggressive a term to get away with.
I can make space for my own reaction to that too.
(Actually there was also something about making space for the groundlessness that others are also experiencing that was the essence of experiencing compassion. I thought that was an interesting string of words and effective ideation)
Anyway I know it seems that this is not addressing your trip report on a point for point basis - as regards set, setting, preparation, experience, and integration, but I think what you were struggling with was the feeling of groundlessness, which is so close to being as open as you can be, and as tender as well.

Mdma has a nasty comedown and the experience I think is less worthwhile than mushrooms or lsd. Great that you got so much out of it. The neurotoxicity should be alleviated by different supplements
