Yea, would be just perfect if they were about 80 mm diameter or something. Guesstimation is that they are about 60 mm? Still loving them.

Maybe you can ask them if it's possible to make them bigger Mr Alien, seeing as you've already established contact with them?

did a batch yesterday in my jars like normal and all plates came out with condensation. That usually doesn’t happen.

Well, I don't think they are the manufacturer of this product, since there are others sellers that sells the same product.

good point. just seemed to remember you getting them to promise to never change the product etc earlier in the thread, so i just assumed they manufactured it..

Haha yes I warned them thinking they were the manufacturers, to never change the product in anyway or face the punishment of the market lol, after i saw a similar product with worst visibility in this thread.

I doubt they will convince the real manufacturer to make a new product. I can send them a message asking them when i have time. Or, if you guys want to push it, just send them a message via amazon as well.

Personally i like the size of these containers, maybe because i have a craze for tiny objects lol, but yeah it would be great if we had a bigger version.

One of the main benefits of using these containers is that you don't have to use any filter material

I have an update on using the dehydrator to eliminate condensation.  Of the 12 plates that I put into the dehydrator with the lids slightly loose none, zip, nada had any contamination!  I got 40 more HG plates in the mail the other day.  I will need to get my hands on some new spores so I can experiment.  All I have is the line that started from the wild one that my buddy Jerry found (I call the line Jerry's Kids)... lots of good clone plates but nothing else to play with at the moment.

motherfucker...the twenty pack is out of stock and the 8-pack is $16.48.

Here's an idea:  Locate the factory and put together a bulk order.  probably 10,000 minimum but 100,000+ would be more cost effective.

Who's with me!!!  :dancer:

PPE fans, what's your take on cleaning these?

I was just rinsing in hot water but several plates from the last pour showed something like bac on the bottom only, underneath the agar.  Even though the PC sterilizes I'm going to try boiling plates and lids for ten minutes then drying and reassembling in the SAB.  Kinda defeats the idea of no-pour but it's worth an experiment.

I just rinse out then reuse. Simple. This thread needs to be pinned. Game changer.

Lids do not seem to be interchangeable between the original vendor and new vendor. New vendor HG's seem to be a clearer plastic.

I agree Game Changer, especially for me

Clearer plastic? Is there a way you can take a high quality picture to compare them? Maybe the lid plastic is a little bit thiner. It would be very good news it this is true.

No stupid questions, right?

To those placing plates in a jar, are you tightening the lid?  I am, and the plates are not getting up to temperature inside a mason jar.  I was suspicious and put some autoclave tape on the plates.  Inside the jar the tape is not tripped at either 30 or 60 minutes, which means the plates are not being heated to 250F.  With no jars, plates right on the trivet but not in water, the tape is tripped.

Am I missing something?  Like not tightening the lids?

Thanks.

Edit:  Ran another test, at 90 minutes the temp inside the jar gets to 250.  May try again with enough water to touch the bottom of the jar. to see if that shortens the time needed.

90 minutes? GREAT, i was suspicious that the plates were not getting to the right temp, because the plate itself is a container, and they are inside ANOTHER container which is the mason jar or whatever. Sometimes, in 1 out of 10 of the plates i was getting contamination on the sides of the plates without even opening them or loosening the lid.

That's why i increased the sterilization time in the OP from 25 minutes to 1 hour, but if you are telling me that the autoclavable tape is marking sterilized at 90 minutes, I will just increase the sterilization time to 90 minutes if needed in the OP. You guys tell me if i should proceed with changing that to 90 minutes in the OP.

I’m glad to be able to help.

I would love to hear other opinions for sure. Mine is that considering 1) air is a poor conductor of heat and 2) the sealed jar stays at room air pressure despite being inside the PC, it’s not surprising that a jar’s dry internal environment is slow to heat.

Simple but not immediately obvious to anyone.  And the solution is easy.

Btw the plates and agar looked  fine after 90 minutes. Visually no different from any other plate with agar cooked for less time.

First transfer from PE clone.
Game changer. Same results as others. Some condensation that dries up on a dark dry shelf. These are the ones from the alternate Amazon source for
the 20 pack for 12.99 usd. Looks like they are out again now.

Same dishes with different lighting.

Great find and tek Mr. Alien.

Have you tried placing 5 HGs (not upside down) in a quart jar on top of the trivet (not elevated), tighten all HG lids, leave qt jar lid (upside down) slightly loose, foiled, and rubber banded (like pc'ing grain)?
I see 2 HGs no condensation, the other 3 dry out in 1 week.

Thanks much gtshroom.  I've cooked the plates in jars and naked and get a lot of condensation either way.  I'll give your suggestion a go and maybe take care of both problems, condensation and temperature, at the same time.

I like the refinements to this tek that are emerging as folks share experience.
