Does fasting enhance trip visuals? * 1
    #26668913 - 05/13/20 04:45 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

The last time I tripped was a few months ago. My vision is completely normal.

However, I recently started fasting, and after 36+ hours with only a few hundred calories, literally everything I look at has afterimages, visual snow is becoming apparent, and I'm getting floaters just looking at my computer screen.

So my question is, does anybody have experience with long fasts (maybe 48 hours or so) on the effects of a trip? My hope is that it would enable me to reach god-tier heroic visuals on doses I'm more used to. More visuals, same headspace. Now wouldn't that be great

I used to insist on fasting the day of the trip.  Then I started fasting for 24 hrs prior to dosing.  I thought it made things more intense all around.

But then I got older, and disliked the come down in that famished state, feeling hungry and worn down; so I switched to dosing right after a big hearty meal.  More recreational, less overwhelming.

I wouldn't recommend and extended fast either.  Maybe take it in the morning after a good dinner.  Or 3-4 hrs after a good lunch like this

I like a really light breakfast. Usually something involving raw cacao. My go to is usually yogurt, blueberry, banana, cacao.

you shouldn't be having floaters or visual snow/blurriness if you're fasting properly. those are symptoms of low blood pressure. have you been getting enough water/electrolytes?

i found that fasting didn't really change the nature of a trip, it just made me much more tired on the comedown. this was about 60 hours into a fast (just water/coffee/tea)

I actually eat during my trips these days. And pretty much throughout. Not on the come up but after the come up I always have some really good, real food on deck.

Once upon a time I'd go through entire trips without eating a bite and by the end of the night I'd feel like a guy who had been walking aimlessly in the desert for days or something. With no food.

Being hungry on a trip is actually great because (natural) food tastes amazing. Problem is pyschs tend to annihilate appetite...

Grapes and veggies are my jam tripping. Can't do meat during trip, but after I'm famished.

Seedless grapes, Mangos, sharp aged cheddar cheese,  salt & butter crackers, mildly spiced cured soppressata, and fresh lemonade or a nice craft beer.

Or!  Or!

Freshly brewed traditional matcha tea, and homemade wagashi :feelsgoatman:

One or the other, it all depends.... and now I’m hungry.

I used to do this before most trips but I'm right there with you, these days.  I'm getting older, though.  My last trip was  around 400ug LSD on January 1st of this year.  I didn't eat anything the entire day before and dropped at midnight, of course.  Hung out by myself in my living room and had a total blast playing call of duty at my computer desk for hours on end.  Honestly, I was kicking ASS.  Everything was so slowed down and my aim was so good that I got accused of cheating a few times.  But around 7am I became REALLY nauseous, clammy, and shakey. ended up puking.  I went to bed after that but obviously only drifted off for a half hour a few times. got up around 11:30am and I was horribly weak and shaky.  Felt like the flu or something.  I could barely even get out of bed.  I heated up a chick fil-a sandwich I bought the afternoon before and it took me almost half an hour to eat just half of it because I felt so sick.  It gave me a little bit of energy but it also gave me anxiety. had a greaaaaaat trip but this was definitely the worst comedown i have ever experienced from cid.  i had taken many other doses off the same sheet, too.  it's probably best to eat something nutrient-rich but light, like a salad, maybe 4-6 hours before tripping.

Edit:  i didn't answer OP's question there much.  I would say the trip will hit you harder overall if you have abstained from food for a good bit of time but i honestly don't see a point in doing so for more than 12 hours unless you have a spiritual or otherwise important reason.

You definitely won't find me fasting before a trip. I like to make sure I have something in my stomach. Then I eat a buncha fuckin mushrooms

It logically follows that the less chemicals your system has to process at one time, the more intense any given chemical WILL be processed at any given time.

So yes, fasting, to a safe degree, will usually enhance trip intensity.

When i fast before a trip (its usually accidental), the hit/dose always seems to hit harder. So yeah, it probably makes a user have more intense visuals since the body is in starvation mode and it has to injest is Psychedelics.

This makes sense. The psilocybin is less diluted in the stomach and your liver is probably more busy breaking down fatty acids or whatever

Still, I feel like there's a direct relationship between hunger and trip visuals (or intensity) given that I'm getting vision alterations completely under the influence of nothing...
I know people can start hallucinating after staying up too long, not sure if states of stress on the brain are related but it stands to reason that perhaps the decreased brain power being used might contribute to a stronger trip in and of itself? ie trip after fasting and staying up for 48 hours you'll have a ridiculous trip before your godawful comedown
