do these look a little too grey?
    #26670374 - 05/14/20 10:41 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

i have the first little mushrooms start popping up, but i'm kind of worried that the mycelium looks a little grey--and has a few brownish spots.  they are starting to fruit, but i guess concerned because i lost my previous try to what i think was cobweb mold while they were still in jars (webby looking stuff with little black specks in it).  any thoughts on these?  i would hate to lose another batch (driving broke).  thanks in advance...

It looks like there's some metabolites on top, so it's probably bacterial, but not too much of an issue. I can't see any grey spots tho.

Just let it grow, it seems like you're going to get a nice flush.

Looks like you will have quite a few pins soon. Pretty sure all those white dots are knots.

The metabolite yellowing can be caused by a number of issues: bacterial, too dry, too hot, and I've read that even an overly nutrient-rich substrate can cause it, but that isn't anything I've established through my own experience. But yeah, that looks pretty good to me. About to pin. Just keep an eye on your conditions and you'll have mushrooms soon

I see a few pins and a bunch of knots - keep your surface conditions up and you'll be golden.

BTW - are using straw for your sub?

the sub is a mix of pony poo, straw, coir, and vermiculite.  i thought i was growing my first try at pan cyans (thus the straw and h-poo), but evidently the spore syringe was mis-labeled--i posted some pics of the early colonization stage and board vets pretty unanimously thought the mycelium looked like cube growth.  now that i can see a couple of little pin heads, they do look like cubes (have that rich brown color)

Keep us posted on the grow - I'd like to see what your flushes look like and how many you can run through with that combination on your sub.
