Storing fully colonized bulk substrate

I have two almost fully colonized surviving jars. When they are finished, I want to make a coco-coir casing with them but the problem is that there is a possibility to travel out of the country for ten days in mid-June. It all depends on the country lockdown policy. The wise choice is to wait for some more news before spawning them into bulk. But if I will not leave the country, at least I can travel inwards . So... if I do spawn them, and have a fully colonized bulk substrate, can I store it in the fridge? Fully covered in wrapping foil. If it's a Yes, should I make some holes and cover them with micropore. Or is it better to block all gas exchange?
I suspect that there is a possibility of contamination. It is not like storing sterile spawning material. Contams' spores will get in while the substrate is colonizing. On the other hand, the mycelium should be strong. Should I prepare differently the bulk casing? Like wrapping it, while leaving some holes with micropore tape? This way, there will be fewer contams to fight.
I have used the search function but only found one result, that didn't contain any first-hand experience. Thanks!

I have never put them in the fridge.... I’m pretty sure that would hinder growth. After you spawn to bulk you should be able to harvest around day 18-21 if all works out well. If your trip is mid June and you spawn now or the next couple days you should get fruits and harvest before you leave.

What I meant is storing in the fridge after it is already fully colonized. Not while it is colonizing.
I also thought about the possibility of already harvesting before leaving. I will probably get one flush if I do go. It will not be bad

They’ll be fine sitting for a while after full colonization, especially in the fridge.
Probably gonna be a pain in the ass to break up after though.

What do you mean? Maybe there is a misunderstanding. Why would I need to break up a fully colonized coco-coir bulk substrate? After storing it in the fridge I intend to apply a casing layer (or should I do this before storage?!) and fruit it in a sgfc. What I meant to do is written in the title of the post: "Storing fully colonized bulk substrate"

Ah well it would probably fruit very slowly.
Personally I’d wait to spawn them until a couple days before you leave so you’ll come back to half grown first flush.

Thanks! That is not a bad idea.
You mean it will recover slowly from the 2-3-4 weeks of fridge temperatures. That will not be a problem for me. Unless it really takes very long to recover and contaminants will start dancing.
I was curious about the possibility of contamination from such a fridge adventure. I also wanted to know if there was anybody else who had done that with a colonized substrate.

I’ve fruited tubs in the low 50s no problem, so I assume they’d keep going in the fridge too but very slow.
Fresh air exchange is what I’d worry about keeping a tub in one.

Myc should be able to fend for itself after full colonization. Although, I'm not sure how it would do in a fridge.

Hmm...I can block ALL gas exchange by using a few layers of plastic food wrap. That will solve the issues you both mentioned: it will keep it from pinning and it will keep out the nasties. Does the lack of oxygen damage the mycelium? Or is it better to make a hole and put a couple of layers of micropore tape? The only concern will be the contaminants that have landed when it was exposed to open air while it was colonizing the substrate.
